I have Gigabit with ATT- modem is near the center of the home but the rooms in the front have poor connectivity to Wifi. How do range extenders work?

That all in one ATT makes you use is absolute shite, probably not much to do with the size of your house

Access Points... Ubiquiti is a good brand. Once you go AP, you never go back to routers.

Probably thinks that cause it is called a security gateway by Ubiquiti.

Its an older router but works great, micht be an updated version. I'm on 1.3 acre and have wifi everywhere, at the pool, workshop, anywhere in the house. Wasn't like that before this router. TP-Link AC1200 ,

"The Archer C1200’s dual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are equipped with beamforming, which locates Wi-Fi devices and focuses the router’s wireless signal toward them instead of sending it in all directions at once."

False.

With an AP like ubiquiti you can go modem>POE switch>AP and it will work fine. Not recommended though

I have the Google WiFi system. It has been awesome so far. You set up one pod directly connected to your modem and then the other 2 around the house. You can add on more pods as needed, but the kit comes with 3.

Setup was extremely easy. I have AT&T internet. Turned off WiFi on the modem, connected the Google WiFi pod. Downloaded the Google WiFi app, and it led me right through

With fiber you don't even need the modem.

My post from a previous thread

I have fiber internet through our local ISP

We own a 3700sqft two story home where the router is located in the center of the first floor.

In lieu of the ISP provided router, we bought an Orbi Mesh system and currently have 3 bars and great speeds throughout the house. It even reaches the ends of my property. The satellite is located at the top of the stairs

We run about 3 concurrent streams and have multiple smart home devices. No buffering at all

Orbi is awesome

Mesh systems have a base station "router" and several satellites that "boost" your wifi coverage

The difference between and mesh system and those cheaper "wifi range boosters" is that the mesh will not slow your internet connection down.

I highly recommend Orbi. It is criminally easy to set up

I never bumped my thread and meant to, but I ended up loving the google mesh system. Took a whole 5 mins to install and I'm routinely getting 600+ download and 700+ upload with ATT gigabit. Just try to place the two extenders at other ends of your house. I've got one in the office, master, and upstairs.
