I have the Cox 150/10 package. I'm working from home and getting my 10 up, but only 5 down.

Just the nature of cable internet service. Consumer services (especially cable ISPs) always oversell their bandwidth, and as long as you have any connectivity they are not outside the bounds of their service agreement.

Followup...

The Cox guy came out on Saturday and quickly realized it was the connector on their cable causing my issue. He ripped the old one off, put a new one on and now I'm getting slightly over my contracted speed even at high usage times (currently sitting at ~165/11, contract is for 150/10).

It's not fair to say that all cable service sucks... just those implemented poorly or not maintained.

I am paying for 150/7.5, and I just pulled this over my wifi:



I watched Suddenlink install a node in our neighborhood - they ran fiber to the node, and cable to the houses in our subdivision. Haven't had any issues, and it never slows down.
