Is there anyone that can help me solve a net framework 3.5 issue?

I keep getting an error that it can't be completed. I had to give up for now and leave but would like to maybe have suggestions when I get home later.
I have Windows 10. The error is like 800fx1 or something close to that. I have tried the three common ones that pull up with google searches but nothing is working.

Do you get an error about the source files missing? You should be able to use add/remove features from the OS without downloading anything.
If that doesn't work you might have to mount the Windows install disk like you have to with 2012 R2 server. You have to point the installer to a path on the disk. Something like ..sources\sxs
Again this is for a server but it may be the same issue.

I am digging more now and see that I have a ton of failed updates for a new version of Windows 10. Perhaps I should start there. I really am very disappointed in Microsoft forcing this shite on me. I was fine with Windows 8 that it came with. Ridiculous that it forced me to continue with this.
