Is the new iPad OS worth it?

My wife is a music teacher and she does a lot of programs at her elementary school. We had a 2009 Mac air where she synced her phone to Bluetooth her playlist to the wireless speakers at the school and finally it had crapped out. I love Macbooks but they are so expensive. My wife only needs something to make playlists on iTunes or the new music app to bluetooth to the wireless speakers. Is it better just to get the iPad OS instead of getting a MacBook?

By an old iphone 5 if all you need is the music app.

Any iOS device can create playlists and Bluetooth stream music.
