Both are 2 TB’s. I put all my torrent movies and tv shows I download. For some reason it won’t let me add the movies or tv shows over 3.7 GB’s. A lot of the shows that are 1080 or higher download are 4 GB or more. Why won’t it let me add them. It says not enough space when I clearly have the room in the external. Do I need a newer external hard drive? The ones I have are like 9 years old

Most likely the formatting. Is it FAT32? If so I believe that is limited to 4GB file size.

Reformat to NTFS. Hopefully you can move the data around enough so that you do lose anything.

Ok thanks. How do you go about reformatting and why can’t I just buy one without those restrictions?

About to order one on amazon. Looks like I will have to format it to work with my Mac

Windows guy here, but you can go into drive properties (right clikcing on drive) and format from there. Mac should have something similar. You don't need to order a drive formatted. Most externals come with utilities to format anyway.

You have to use Disk Utility on a Mac to reformat a drive

I'm going to just order a new external because My mac doesn't have 2TB of storage for me to move from my external to the computer to reformat it.
