Also, OP, I'm pretty certain the Denon x4400 might work for you. Though I think it can only do 2.0 and video in zone 2 (not 2.1).

You could still do 2.1 in zone 2 with a sub that accepts high-level input/output like Velodyne or Rel. That would make the wiring way more complex though.

All one patio, or is this like a front/back patio?
Most of the receivers will have 2 sets of posts for outdoor speakers. If you always want all four together, check out this article.
I am too dumb for this article.

Just moved into new house. It has 2 speakers in kitchen, 4 in living room, two in bedroom and two on patio. So far, I can only get bedroom and patio to work. I'll keep working on the rest, but for now, can I just run those 4 speakers from the same outputs? The receiver I am using just has fronts, middle and surround. I tried surround for the bedroom and it sounds yucky. The house has volume controls in a few places so I can adjust from there. I guess I should just buy a new receiver, but already have two

Probably because the only sound getting sent to them is the back surround portion of whatever you're listening to. You need a receiver with multiple zones.

I think 4 zone receivers exist but are probably in the $1k+ range. If I'm you, I maybe get a 3 zone receiver to control kitchen, living room, and patio, and then a less equipped receiver for the bedroom.

The 4 speaker locations in the living room are most likely for surround sound. Add a center channel and a sub and there you have it.

As noted, if you're running the bedroom off of the main zone as rear speakers the only way they're going to sound good is in 5 channel stereo mode.

Since you have two receivers I'd dedicate one to the living room and the other for the other rooms. You can run the second receiver in all channel stereo mode for the other three pairs. Note that unless you have dedicated volume controls in those locations they're all going to be on at the same time and all at the same volume level.

This one does have modes, but not sure what they mean. I may have to look up an owner's manual. It's new enough t have bluetooth.

I like this idea. There are volume controls in the kitchen, bedroom and patio.

If the receiver has different zones they don't all have to be on at the same time.

Neither of the two I have are zoned. I think I am going to run the outdoor speakers through one receiver, then hold off on the rest until I get fully moved in and decide exactly what I want out of the rest. My chromecast audio came in, but was surprised to find that the bluetooth capable receiver has no 3.5 mm in, so I ordered a 3.5 to optical for it.

I still have to play around with all the wires to see if i can get kitchen and living room ones to even make sound.

Get a test tone generator to test those speaker wires. The living room wires probably go to a different location than the rest.
