43in. TCL vs Samsung vs LG ... all "smart" TVs.
I'm leaning towards TCL becuase to me there doesn't seem to be a big difference and its the cheapest. Someone tell me what i'm missing.

BUDGET? Size preference? Use?

i believe in that price range, TCL is more highly regarded than those models from LG/Samsung

If you are just looking for a cheap TV I actually prefer the TCL's roku interface. Super easy to navigate, can even get the roku app on your phone to navifate if the remote isn't nearby which is also nice.

I generally stick with RTINGS for TV info, as they are fairly comprehensive. Best reviewed 43" TV for Spring 2020 is the Vizio M437-G0. $380 on Amazon/Dell.

Here are the reviews for the LG and TCL models for comparison. No Samsung Review available.

costco has a great warranty program with squaretrade i believe.. like even better than just through squaretrade alone. i think they pretty much cover anything that goes wrong with it?
i would highly recommend looking into it, but then again for just a $200 tv idk if you'd want to. probably only like $30 extra though.

Thanks man.
There's no budget, but it's crazy how much more expensive that Vizio is.

IMO, avoid smart TVs. Eventually the "smart" part will become an issue (doesn't work, slows down, etc). You're left with just a TV and you have to go out to buy a device to takes it's place or you send it back for repair and you're out of a TV until it's returned. It's a nice concept, but poor delivery unless you're cool with buying a new TV every couple years.
Wirecutter is a great place to start for TVs.

Appreciate the advice there. Going to check out the site you recommended.
A smart TV is appealing only because it's going to be in the garage gym and hooked up to wifi. I can download YouTubeTV and have that playing without any further setup.
If i get a regular TV then i'll have to get an AppleTV seperately which is around $200.00 right there.
For $30.00 bucks more i can get a TCL and not have to worry about the separate AppleTV and it's wires.
Maybe i'm overlooking something but it makes sense to me. I'm also putting the TV on a stand that I can wheel to the backyard when I'm BBQing so again ... the less wires; the less messy the better.

Or a $30 Roku or Firestick

A smart TV is probably a good solution for a secondary or tertiary option like that. I would not avoid a smart TV for my garage gym if I got a really good deal on one. Roku makes a very good device for streaming that's very affordable.

Didn’t think of that but then again never used one.

I'm the opposite. I prefer the LG webOS over the TCL roku.

Do not recommend. These things are slow.

Sony or Samsung. Nothing else.

My go to is an LG followed by Samsung. Sonys are just overpriced, and they used to be lightning attractors. The TCLs have had an ENORMOUS upgrade in quality over the past two years, so don't discount them. Their user interface is top notch too.
One note on Samsung. For whatever reason it keeps 'losing' my YouTubeTV app, and I have to go find it again.
For size: Go to Walmart, and stand in front of the TVs at your normal viewing distance. Then go one size up!
For picture quality: Don't choose by the onscreen video in the store, that's all adjustable.
Last thing from me. If you're going to hardwire your TV to a cable modem, make sure it has the appropriate internet jack on the back and isn't just Wifi. I got a TCL for my patio and found out too late it was Wifi only.

TCL does have TVs with the ethernet jack. You have to make sure you get the correct model. I got one for my daughter to take to college. I have purchased 3 TCLs in the past few years and have had no issue with them.
But that being said, TCL is a Chinese company and I think many are rethinking their purchases from Chinese companies.
I know all the TVs are probably made in China anyway, but there are other non Chinese companies.
