Sorry this explanation is long. Built new home, moved in two months ago. All new system. Vizio M65, Denon 7.2 receiver, Klipsch in-ceiling speakers for fronts and surrounds, Klipsch sub. Home is wired with Cat5. Have cable and a Firestick running through receiver. TV has SmartCast.
I have a problem that occurs only when watching something through SmartCast. The sound will skip or cutoff very briefly, like 1 second maybe 2. Then it’s back, but it happens frequently like 2-3 times per minute, sometimes more.
The only connection between the TV and receiver is a high quality HDMI cable that was part of the home build package. It is connected to the ARC HDMI port on the TV, but that must be the issue. I can watch anything on cable or firestick with zero problems. Can watch Netflix fine one way and messed up the other. Thoughts? Thanks.

Is everything running through the same hdmi? If so I wouldn’t think the hdmi is the reason for your issue since it only occurs when using smartcast.

Quite honestly, I find the built in apps for these “smart TVs” leave a lot to be desired. I prefer to use an external device (fire stick, roku, Nvidia shield, etc) to run whatever app I am using. They tend to be more stable than the built in apps that come with the TVs.

Why don't you connect an optical cable from out of the TV to your receiver for audio out of the TV and leave the video on HDMI.
Just as a test to see if it's the audio path that's giving you trouble
