Having ATT fiber installed next week
Posted by cajunsaint on 7/14/18 at 3:21 pm00
So I'm having ATT Uverse TV and Fiber internet installed in a newly constructed home (drywall already completed).
Is there anything I should be sure to let the technician know? This is the first time I've been in a home with no prior tv/internet service wiring. Looking for anything to watch for to minimize the damage to the home.

I got them to run the fiber on the side of my house where I wanted, my office. The tech ran the line up to the attic as I wanted a hole in the eve vs the brick. He did not cause any damage and vacuumed his mess before he left.

Have him drop a port behind your TV for 4k streaming.

I didn't think they ran cabling? Other than their fiber inside? If so I screwed up not getting them to run it everywhere in my house.

I was running HDMI & optical cables behind the wall during the appointment and the guy asked if I'd like him to run cable behind the TV and I said sure. He gave me a splitter thing too so I've got the ps4, chromecast ultra, and this airtie mesh deal all wired.

I spoke with the "technical" customer service this morning. They said that the tech would be able to install ports to hide wiring. Not sure if the tech would be willing to actually do it, but the customer service rep did say that they added it to the notes.
I guess at this point everything sounds good. Just crossing my fingers the tech is knowledgeable.

Either he or you should protect the fiber where it comes out of the ground. At my house, the fiber from the ground is tie-wrapped to a pipe that climbs the house, then terminates at the ATT gray box. We've already had an incident where the fiber got stretched too tight and failed (ATTs explanation.) Given its apparent frailty, I now want to put a small piece of PVC pipe over the fiber where it leaves the ground to protect it from my weedeater.
