Firetv/Firecube remote

I have never been so confused in my life with these remotes. I have two firetv’s and one firecube. All connected to Samsung TVs. Sometimes the Samsung remotes control the firetv, sometimes they don’t. I have a streaming service, and I still use my Directtv remotes for my tv. Sometimes they (the directtv remote) control the firetv, sometimes they don’t. The original Amazon remotes eat battery power like there is no tomorrow. I have called Amazon.com and was told to unplug the firetv and take out the batteries after each usage. No consistency with doing this. Anyone else have similar problems? TIA.

Sometimes or some TV's?
Sounds like you are probably using Samsung's version of HDMI-CEC which should be enabled for sure in the Samsung software, maybe in the Amazon product as well
If you can't figure it out, just give up and buy a Logitech Harmony Hub with simple remote for each tv

You can download the app and control it with your phone.

The fire remote contols the firetv/stick via wifi. Meaning you can point it anywhere and it will work. The samsung remote controls the TV (and the firetv/stick if you set it up via the HDMI connection) and uses IR, meaning you have to point it at the IR sensor for it to work. Try this to see if you get some consistency. If you want to control the TV with either remote (TV or fire remotes) point the remote at the TV's IR sensor. If you want to control the firestick with the TV remote make sure it is pointed at the TVs IR sensor. The DirectTV remote is acting as your TV remote so all the same rules apply.
