Anyone else get the email below?
I was grandfathered in at $35/month and this is the first price increase. Was curious if this increase is across the board or only for people paying $35.

At DIRECTV NOW,? our passion is to deliver a one-of-a-kind entertainment streaming service at a great value. Recently we introduced our True Cloud DVRBETA with 20 free hours* and an updated user experience. And since our launch, we’ve added over 200 local channels nationwide. In order to keep enhancements like these coming, we’re adjusting our prices. Starting 08/16/2018, the cost of your Go Big package will increase by $5/mo.We know value is important, and that’s why we are determined to keep packing in as many features and benefits as possible while continuing to keep your prices low.

It’s across the board. Most of the streaming services raised prices last week

It’s for old grandfathered plans it seems. So you will be paying $40 for something that would cost me $50. Sucks there is an increase but at least the aren’t ripping your band aid off.

Yep. But I've always said that I'd have no problem paying $5/month more for DVR functionality.

It feels like we are inching closer and closer to cable prices as we go and we’ll all be looking for cheaper options once again in a few years.

If it ever costs me $50 or more for streaming, I’m going back to cable.

It’s more reliable and my goodness do I really miss my standard remote

I did as well but forfeited it when I got AT&T cell service. I just pay $10.00 a month now and have heard nothing of a price increase.

Regardless, I still don’t think I can beat $40 internet (UVerse) and $10 TV (DirecTV Now).

My wife and I are now in serious deliberations on if we should keep Netflix or jump to Hulu. We really only watch The Office on Netflix and Hulu offers a boatload more content. I’m in favor of dropping Netflix and just re-upping for a month when Stranger Things comes back out

I also subscribed on day 1. I could be wrong but i think we get are grandfathered in to the discount ($25?), not the $35 price we pay per month.

From what I remember when I signed up, it said we would pay the price of the lowest package. So if the lowest package ever went up, then so would our cost.

I subscribed the first day DirecTV Now came out so I had to be one of the first subscribers

I thought the deal was as long as I never cancelled, my price would hold?

I haven’t gotten an email like yours yet. So I’m assuming as for now I’m locked in at my same price of I think $35

I subscribed right after it started also and was under the impression that I was locked into $35. I'm not necessarily complaining, but was just curious.

I'm trying out HuluLive to see how it compares to PS Vue and it will cost the same as Vue after adding the premium DVR, it'd cost more than Vue if I added the extra screens. It really is getting harder to justify the worse interface of cord cutting based on the savings. If Cable didn't tax and fee you to death they might actually be cheaper with a promotional rate.

I would be ok with the price increase if it didn’t come on the heels of them implementing a new app that is absolutely terrible. I never had problems with the service before but since they added the new app and DVR it’s slow, laggy, it crashes, it’s not user friendly, and just sucks in general.

And for all that they’re only charging $5 more!

I am directv now and have been contemplating going back to Uverse. The problem with Uverse is them charging for the damn boxes. Otherwise I would be back already

I was also grandfathered in. Just received my email about the price increase yesterday. My next bill will be $5 more. As long as it's $20 a month or more cheaper I'll keep it. It has been more painful recently though with buffering and shite. And on top of that my cox internet has been shite which of course means I can't watch tv with a streaming service.

That's the kicker.
I've told Cox before, i'd gladly get cable from you, but i don't want any box or anything, just charge me the monthly fee for the channels and that's it. I don't even need you to run cable to my house. All i want is the login and password so i can access ESPN and FoxSports and whatever other random thing i might watch through an app.
I literally only want to pay you to use a login, or i can keep stealing from you and using my dad's login. So i keep stealing.

I joined DirecTV Now last year and got the half off plan for increasing my data to unlimited. I got the $50 plan for $25 a month. It increased to $30. Since I got the service, they have added several channels, including 2 local channels, and also now have the DVR service which works well for me. I don't mind paying a little extra as long as they give me something for it, unlike my previous cable company which arbitrarily raised the rate for no apparent reason or increase in services.
