I apologize in advance for such a long post.

I recently received a custom PC build for cheap that I would like to make more use of. The situation is that I need room for multiple hard drives, at least 4-5 and it simply isn't there.

This is the current setup, and I apologize for poor pictures.

This is a Phanteks P400TG Case.

The radiator? (sorry, I'm not fully sure if that's what I'm seeing) is blocking the potential area where a hard drive bay could rest.. I have tried squeezing in the 3.5" hard drives next to it, but with the graphics card and all.. there is simply not enough room.

I want to keep my entire cooling system though. Could I perhaps position the radiator horizontally? Sorry if it's not even a radiator. I am not tech savvy.

There is a spot for 2 hard drives on the back, underneath the case, but it's kind of meh and I'm not sure how well it would work under there.

Either way, it's still not enough room.

I have purchased an external hard drive bay which connects via USB3.1/ Type-C connection or whatever.. but I would still prefer the hard drives to be in the PC directly connected to Sata. Even though it is stated that type C gets up to 10gbps transfer rates or whatever I feel like the speeds are possibly slower when powered through 1 single cord for such an enclosure? I assume the read and write speeds are more dependent upon the hard drive themselves? Is this true? And no, it's not any type of raid setting.. nor do I want that.

I tried doing some comparison testing between hooking up my hard drives to another computer internally and then via the external usb c enclosure. I found that on sata the writing started out MUCH faster, but slowed down with the quickness about halfway and ended up being slightly slower overall than the external.

Any ways, like I said.. I would like to add internal 3.5" hard drives, but at the same time I don't want to give up the current configuration or parts I have for the PC.. Do they make a case that's big enough to adapt to both the radiator and multiple hard drives?

This is the current hard drive enclosure I have

LINK

My write speeds for my hard drives were around 180 mb/s up to 200 mb/s for a 10 gb file with the enclosure and then 160 mb/s to 185 mb/s hooked up to Sata.

However, I am now trying to transfer 70 gbs from a HD in the enclosure and it started out around 60 mb/s, then 35 mb/s, and now it's been only 5 mb/s since the halfway point. Is this standard in copying such large amounts data or is this a result of the enclosure?

They also make an enclosure that is Thunderbolt 2 ready, but that would require me changing out my motherboard.. which is probably more work than I would want.. but may be worth it. Thunderbolt has insane speeds, but again.. it being an external enclosure via one cord.. would that still slow it all down? Maybe the hard drives I currently have are just slow.

My other situation is that my PC is using all my Sata cables on the only Sata connector cable I have for my PSU. I don't have the extra one that came with the PSU.. which normally nets you 5 sata plugins per cable.. It's suppose to come with 2 cables equalling 5 sata powers, bt I'm missing one and I cannot for the life of me find another one to purchase for my PSU.

So I stupidly tried purchasing a used one for the same make of my PSU on eBay..

However, when tried installing this I had a difficult time jamming it in the PSU. I couldn't really see what I was doing because of the location of it..

So, when I hooked up this extra cable it immediately fried all the hard drives I had attached to it. One actually caught fire. thankfully after I unplugged the PC and the fire went out.

I then pull the cable out to inspect it and I notice that this..

is not the same as the one that came with the PSU.. Mine has the blacked out part in the middle.. and obviously this must affect has the power is distributed.

My PSU is a Rosewill Glacier Series 1000W and has inputs for multiple Sata Connectors, but I can't find any where to purchase these separately. I even tried contacting Rosewill directly, but no response yet.

I really think I am leaning towards trying out the external thunderbolt 2 storage bay system. If the speeds were great and stayed consistent then I would not care about having hard drives internally in my PC. Right now using the 3.1 Type C I have been getting less than 5 mb/s for the past hour, transferring heavy data. I just don't know if this is normal or not, or if it's more of the hard drive itself.

So if anyone is willing to give tips or a crash course on any of this info I would greatly appreciate it.
