Comcast issues

I am constantly having issues with my comcast Internet. Their customer service dept is in a fight to be the worst ever! I have read that you can return their modem/router and get your own. Has anyone had luck with this set up? If so, what kind of equipment are you using? Also, has anyone had luck with the "long range routers"? I am currently using extenders with not much luck but that could be due to other issues.. Thanks for the help!

I use a Motorola sb6141 modem ($66 @ Amazon) and an Asus RT-N66U ($105 @ Amazon) wireless router and am satisfied.

Comcast is hands down the worst company in America. If I were to ever immolate myself it would be to draw attention to this issue. Hopefully my sacrifice would motivate enough people to cut the cord and switch to a different internet provider and blow that fricker up. I hate them
