Interested in any opinions as to which is the better brand TV these days: Sony vs. Samsung?
Of course if there's others, let me know your thoughts.
Been 10 years since I've been in the market for TVs.
TIA!

I've had my Samsung for probably 8-9 years and has been wonderful. Historically, I remember Sony being overpriced.

I've never had any trouble whatsoever from any Samsumg product I've ever owned. Tv's, refrigerators, stereo receivers, DVD players, speakers, nothing ever.

That's what I remember too. And I've had a Samsung for 9-10 years now and love it.

Panasonic is my top choice, but I would take Sony over Samsung.
Considering Samsung is notorious for having the most failed television sets in the industry. They were forced to extend warranties to fix all the cheap capacitiors they put in their televisions.
Samsung class action over millions of failing television sets
Then add in the reports of them injecting ads and recording your viewing habits I will pass.
Samsung is just great at marketing, QLED is a great example.

You might be the first person to ever say something like that.
I have heard of numerous issues across their line of products. Leave it to them to sell phones with exploding batteries.
Samsung would be the last company I'd buy anything from.

Didnt they start the fake refresh rate spec BS on TVs? Using 120 to really refer to a TV with 60hz? (now it seems all the companies do it).

I bought one of each a couple years ago.
Samsung 1080p in the bedroom has great pic and has had no issues.
Sony 4K in the den has nice pic too, but the damned power board went out three times in a year. They finally, after much hell raising by me, sent me a new TV replacement.
I think it is kind of a crap shoot on whether you get a good unit, no matter the brand, and the customer service probably sucks at all of them. Fortunately, they are very affordable these days.

I prefer Sony > Samsung. Although last model year the Samsung were a better value.

Ive had a 55inch LED samsung for 9 years now, its been taken down and put up through 4 moves and its still a great picture and works perfect. I cant say a bad word about it. Every other TV in my house came from the clearance rack though...

In the past 10 years, I've had two Samsung tvs go out on me inexplicably. Having an LG oled delivered today. Here's hoping.

Samsung > Sony.
You really can't go wrong with either.

I use sony and LG at work with Samsung's at home. All perform well.

Size matters in TV brand recs.
If you trust consumer reports Sony and LG get good ratings in almost all categories. But Samsung also gets good ratings but are generally lower than LG and Sony until you get below 52 inch. Then it is Samsung that is higher.

It depends on the TV model... You shouldn't buy just because it says Samsung.
