Apple TV trouble
I have had a gen 1 Apple TV for several years. It was running off of att, which was pretty poor, but never had issues with the Apple TV.
So I just got rid of the att and went to cox -I think the plan is 120mb. (The att plan was att19)
So What is happening is the Apple TV keeps loosing the new WiFi
My iPhones do not lose the WiFi.
So- issue with new WiFi or issue with old Apple TV?
Why would it never have this issue but now I change service it all the sudden does have issue?
Also- I did restart and actually set the Apple TV back to original settings to try that but still the same issue..

re: Apple TV trouble
I have a gen 1 and Cox internet, and it only loses network when the service goes down.

I just go to Settings to "remind" it of the network settings and it's fine.

Edit: Sorry, I see from the pictures below that I have either a gen 2 or 3.

re: Apple TV trouble
I have done this several times also. It drops the internet every ten minutes or less. I’m buying a gen 4 today, just cannot believe this never happened before, yet same day I change internet it starts. Too much coincidence.

re: Apple TV trouble
I just switched to Cox ( 300mb) a couple of days ago and one of my Macs is constantly dropping the signal and reconnecting.

I had an issue of the same sort with an android tablet. After doing some research online, it was suggested to set the tablet with a static ip address. It hasn't lost connection since I did that. I'm not sure if the apple TV is capable of doing this, but it could be something to look into.

You have a 1st gen and it still works? That's shocking in and of its self.

Can you hardwire it and update the software?

re: Apple TV trouble
Ok so after installing the 4K Apple TV, I fought with the ps vue for hours in complete frustration. (Simply trying to set it up)
Once I took iPhone off WiFi, all the crap started working right (the psvue code that goes to the iPhone, even directly trying to purchase psvue from website using WiFi and iPhone wouldn’t work)
So it’s clearly an issue with the new Cox internet. I suspect a crappy Chinese built modem is defective.
Even once I got the thing installed, the ps vue app was spastic tryjng to navigate using Apple TV remote. (Due to lost connection) but for some reason it’s really fighting the Apple TV.
On another side note/ how do you hard wire new Apple TV? Use an Ethernet connection? The hdmi cable is the only other port, but the modem does not have an hdmi port, only Ethernet.

Update: after I bought the new 4K, it had all kinds of problems. I retuned it same day and got a new one. It worked fine but ps vue was very blurry. I dig around and found an Ethernet cable and that cleared it up nicely. (Yes the TV is 10 years old, and 720p, so I will be buying a new one shortly)
At this point it all works well. I was able to navigate setting up watch espn using psvue (on the iPhone)

Does your network have separate 2.4 and 5 network? If so try both, this worked for me on older units further from the router. Also,if your new router is set to combine the 2.4 and 5 into one then you should disable that setting first.
