Have a 3 year old iPhone 6, battery is shite. Don’t necessarily need/want a newer phone, but I have heard that replacing the battery on the older model will obviously not only help with the battery but performance with the newer OS. Any thoughts or input on this.

I think the cost of a new battery from the Apple store is like $80 and then go to one of those phone repair shops to replace it.

We charge $70, but it takes 5 min.

If your semi-tech savvy, you can handle it.

Use ifixit.com to look up the procedure, it is incredibly simple.

It won't help with the new iOS, this iOS is a hot pile of garbage that Apple has designed with 3rd graders.

It will help with overall battery life...

Your best bet is to find a zero-cycle battery on Amazon, they sometimes come with the tools to change it out as well.

My battery is going to shite and the phones performance has noticeably declined- sometimes takes a bit to load/switch between apps, keyboard may lag behind at first, etc. neither of these last longer than like 3 seconds but still super annoying #firstworldproblems

Should I just go buy a new phone?

When you say “we charge $70”, who is “we”?

Buy a battery for about $25,watch a YouTube video on how to replace it. Won't take you more than 10 minutes.

It's a 2/10 on the diy scale.

I worked at a cell phone repair shop until recently...

The 6's are decent phones...I wouldn't worry about getting a new phone unless you just want one. And you honestly don't need a brand new one either.

Unless you want an iPhone X, I would grab a 7...the 7's are probably the best-made phones since the 4s.

Apple software tends to utilize more and more processing speed and RAM with each iOS update, so your 6 may slow a tad because of it but not lag like your talking about

It's easy to do but also easy to frick up if you break the tabs. Pay the $79 for apple or an AASP to do it with a real battery. There are many things to try to save money on, but a thing that shorts out electronics with improper voltages and has the potential to burst into flames is not one of them.

As long as you take the time and are not a woman you won't break the tabs.
