Anybody have a reasonably priced set of specs for a diy mini PC?

I just want to do it as a small teaching project for a couple of my kids. Not including operating system,
I guess I’m thinking $250-300 would be doable. Just for the hell of it and to have something fun to do with them. Thanks I’m advance.

if you're willing to get a few things used and don't need to buy windows, you can actually build a tower that runs games at QHD for that price, if you're careful and patient about it. Would have been easier cyber monday though

LGA 1155 thin MITX mobo
mSATA SSD
external PSU
I was going to use it for mostly n64, NES and gamecube and steam in home sharing, but I ended getting a good deal on a gaming laptop instead that was higher performing
