Anybody had their Amazon account hacked before?
Had someone get into my account to change email address that of a Russian name and changed phone number today so mine not associated with account and when I called CS they filled out a form and all that and will get back to me in a day or two. Has someone had this problem before with Amazon? I wouldn’t think it would take 1-2 days to get this resolved.

I had a similar issue. Got online with their chat (AI first, but it eventually sent me to a human) and they simply closed my account. Opened another right away.

Are you trying to keep your account active and need all of the contacts/passwords reassigned to you? I could see that being more of an issue than something a level 1 tech could handle and might take a day or two to get kicked up the ladder.

Never seemed to have the option of closing it when talking with CS rep over the phone, but I just want it so they don’t buy anything so I don’t mind closing account.
Thanks though for responding, I might call again and just ask to close account for peace of mind and over with even though they the account is frozen but only for a day or two.

How many accounts do you have with same username and password?

I would change all the passwords ASAP and not assume it was Amazon that got hacked.

happened to me. Caused me to lock down my credit, change tons of passwords, and add two-step validation to everything I could.

Change all your passwords, start using Bitwarden or LastPass, etc. use two factor authentication everywhere. Preferably through google Authenticator and not sms. However sms based is better than nothing, and could be a decent option if you use google voice to protect you from a sim swap attack.

I’ve got a non sms based two factor and super complex, randomly generated password for everything that matters in my life.

So even if somehow, they can obtain my insane password. It’s irrelevant because they’ll never get my two factor code that rotates every minute.

The key to security is multiple layers. If you have a reused password anywhere and no two factor in 2019. You’re low hanging fruit.

add two-step validation

It is a pain in the arse but adds a nice layer of security.
