my mouth doesnt hate me.
I didnt like Alexa answering the tv when a commercial came on or doing random things. It literally started playing music at 3am one night.
Google home doesnt do any of that. If recognizes your voice. The girl comes on when i say ok google and the guy when my wive says ok google.

Can I just wire my red and black wires to the Hello and be done?
Fwiw--The Hello has a better camera than the Ring and it's smaller. I like the facial recognition aspect although I'm sure Ring has this as well.
For the last several months I haven't had any issues with my Ring Pro. Always picks up motion/recording BEFORE they enter the motion zone and their customer service is phenomenal. Haven't played with the Nest Hello, but IMO the Ring Pro will be hard to beat.

let me see if i have this correct. amazon currently has:
* our credit card/personal info
* history of everything we've spent money on
* streaming video & music services that keeps track of every movie and tv show we watch and every song we listen to
* keys to our front door for package delivery
* keys to our car so they can put packages in the trunk of our car while we're at work
* listening devices in every room of our house
* cameras that record and store every movement we make on their cloud
* facial recognition ability
what could possibly go wrong?
has apple and microsoft been completely replaced by a search engine and a bookstore?
if it wasnt for the iPhone what would apple look like right now as a company?

Two wires for the doorbell itself and two wires to your chime box inside the house. Takes less than 5-10 minutes to setup both. Super easy. The Hello lined up with my old holes for my doorbell, so I had the whole thing installed in 10 minutes or less.

I really wish Apple would play nice with Google/Nest and also make moves in this space. I love my nest thermostat, but don't really trust Amazon or Google with voice or video enabled devices nearly as much as I trust Apple. Also, Siri is an embarrassment right now.
The demo of Google booking an appointment for the user blew me away.

The demo of Google booking an appointment for the user blew me away.
quote:
there was something a little off in the conversations the A.I. had on the phone with businesses, suggesting that perhaps Google had faked, or at least edited, its demo. Unlike a typical business (Axios called more than two dozen hair salons and restaurants), the employees who answered the phone in Google’s demos don’t identify the name of the business, or themselves. Nor is there any ambient noise in Google’s recordings, as one would expect in a hair salon or a restaurant. At no point in Google’s conversations with the businesses did the employees who answered the phone ask for the phone number or other contact information from the A.I. Further, California is a two-party consent state, meaning that both parties need to consent in order for a phone conversation to be legally recorded. Did Google seek the permission of these businesses before calling them for the purposes of the demo? Was it staged in the simulated manner of reality TV?
Google isn’t saying.
