I returned home yesterday after being away for three days. Only change to my phone was a Moto update. Now, I cannot connect to my home wifi. The phone finds it, but then says disabled.

I can connect to work wifi. I have shut off phone. I have shut off router. I have pressed the little switch doohickie on the router while having that setting open on phone. I have forgot the networks. I have hit modify and re-logged in. Next?

I don't want to go through a hard reset because of music files.

Of course.

Oh, and stop it. That's not what this is about.

just giving you shite.

so can you not connect to any wifi (starbucks? mcdonalds?) other than work?

i had a problem like this once and my WiFi got screwed by one of those apps that temporarily hijacks your wifi to connect to a wifi device..ended up having to factory reset the phone to get it to work properly again.

Have you tried "forgetting" the network then rescan and connect?

Yeah, it's mentioned in the OP. Didn't help.

What phone do you have? My Moto G5 Plus has done this a few times recently and I can't figure out why either. All other devices are connecting fine and my phone will eventually connect and work OK for a little while then starts doing the same thing again.

i have a nexus 6 (motorola) and in real time i watched a device that i was connecting to wifi go through the little dance of changing my home network to the device itself, then fail to switch back to my wifi crashing the wifi feature on my phone completely.

probably not the same thing, but if this hadnt happened 2 or 3 times i probably wouldn't have traced it back to that.

smart devices (tlink, ihome smart plugs, etc.)..anything that creates a temporary 'wifi hotspot' to push your wifi credentials over to that device is prone to it.

My guess is your router is dying.

I restarted router. Did not fix. I went into advanced settings on wifi on phone an just started changing setting with no reason behind the changes. Bam, one worked lol.

As I mentioned previously I was also having strange wifi problems with my Moto G5 Plus. I went to Moto forums and found a discussion about others having the same issue. A lenovo rep was asking for customers to submit detailed log files which I did. A week later I was contacted by Motorola offering to send me a replacement phone if I would send them my current phone so their engineers could examine it. I am transferring all my stuff to the new phone as I type this.

So perhaps you can find help on their forums too? It is worth a try.

So, I decided to check for updates again before doing a hard reset. Sure enough, one is waiting that specifically mentions wifi connection issues. After the update, bam! Home wifi again.

I still don't understand why it was just my home one. I could connect at work every single time.
