What apps are out there that make the stock messaging look like childs play? I've heard of gosmspro is pretty sick but that's it. Anything else out there?

What are some of the cool things about Textra that i should know about? I've downloaded it and it seems just like the stock messaging service. Little better looking, but that's all I see.

Me too! Have never had these issues before, have been running it for almost a year now. Probably just a bug with the major update it received recently.

Floating notifications, quick replies, performance, to name a few.

Also, Evolve SMS is really good, but depending on your device may cause issues with battery. It DRAINED my note 3 badly, but works fine on my LG G3. I really like the themes available and the scheduled SMS feature...it really helps me since I get off quite late a lot of times, and have to relay a message to someone working the next morning but don't want to have to set an alarm.

I used Handcent for a long time. It's very customizable and has the most intuitive pop up notifications of any text app out there.

However, it had issues with group messaging.

I've been using Textra for about 6 months now and love it.

I just uninstalled textra because of the frustrating floating notifications. Just went with basic text app for android.

I really like swift key. I hated the stock key board.

I used to use Handcent for a long time due to the customization issues but couldn't get over the MMS problems I was having. I switched to the default/Hangouts app when I got my N5 last year and haven't had a second thought. I will second Swiftkey. Been a huge fan since before it went free. Best keyboard app out there IMHO. On a side note, I've been debating on getting the G3 or waiting until next year's crop of flagships arrive.
