Haven’t really watched a movie since I got the TV a couple weeks ago. I have a new Apple TV, with Dolby vision and running HBO GO through it. Watched Ready Player One, and there were some glaring issues on dark scenes. Almost like a seeing hazy pixels or something along the lines of that in areas where is should’ve been black.

Is that a signal issue? I think I have 45mbs through ATT. I don’t see it when watching direct tv.

Also, is there a way to tell if my box has the 4K signal? Understanding only a few things broadcast it.

Banding? Look up your tv and the recommended settings. TVs out of the box are generally setup like shite.

I just looked up pics of banding... don’t think that’s it. I used the settings on rtings.
I’d post a pic if I could get that shite to work... don’t know if it’s my phone, but I can’t get the pic to work off of imgur

I checked my speed on Speedtest and I had 51.9 download and 16.5 upload.

You may be talking about the FALD zones.

HBO doesn’t have HDR or 4K movies yet so Dolby vision wouldn’t be used there

It may not be the tv tho, some videos just look bad in dark scenes. For example, Mr Robot has some pretty bad quality issues in dark scenes for some reason while others shows I’ll watch don’t.

That may have something to do with it. I need to watch it through just the normal HBO and see what happens.

Yea, you have to be watching a 4K or HDR movie to get the benefits. Netflix (if you’re paying for the 4K subscription) and amazon have them, and you can rent or buy them on Vudu or iTunes
