Does it cost more than its weight in gold?

Seems like the biggest change is to the keyboard. I’m a huge MacBook Pro fanboy (I’ve had somewhere around 6 in my life), but the keyboard on the last release drove me nuts. It has very little “click” to it and feels like you are typing on a phone.

Hopefully the new one is improved. MacBooks are expensive but totally worth it IMO.

I saw a couple of YouTube videos about the last one having ghost key presses and such. That scared me off from even looking at one, but if they got it fixed then I might head over to the Apple store and give them a gander. I’m in the market for a desktop replacement solution for extended stays abroad.

Is the new one the first one to have 8 cores? I could’ve sworn they topped out at 6 cores.

Only the touchbar models were updated with a spec bump (up to 8 cores) + new materials in the keyboard with the same design overall. They claim to be more durable and easier to repair, but also included a 4 year keyboard replacement warranty.

I would wait until next week to see if anything at WWDC is going to be released - strong rumors pointing to a new 16” OLED.

I have both a late 2013 mbp (personal) and a 2018 mbp (work), and for some reason I prefer the keyboard and trackpad on the 2013-2016 macbook pros, than the newer ones. They're getting noisier and clunkier to use, imo.

I do like the touch bar though, and it makes sense that they updated the functionality of it with this new release.

Why have a touchbar when you can have an entire touchscreen.

ETA- the trackpad is a touchscreen too.

absolutely not going to happen 2 weeks after they spec bumped the current line up. Only Mac hardware that is going to get a mention is the new Mac Pro.

It's yet another very mild refresh with no real changes other than processor. "5th generation" butterfly keyboard and they already added it to the keyboard list to get fixed/replaced for free, shows the confidence they have in it

Anyone who buys this thing with a core i9 is wasting a huge amount of money. It cant cool it.
