We've already qualified for the u20 World Cup next year, but a win today will clinch a spot in the Olympics for the first time since 2008.

Why is that the qualifying format this time around?

Well because the USSF finally started throwing its weight around in CONCACAF and made changes to the format knowing that we have a better chance of qualifying for the Olympics with our promising U20's rather than relying on our MLS U23's to get the job done.

Anyway, we're playing Honduras, who actually has a decent squad.

Cade Cowell also suspended for this match because of that epic brawl with Costa Rica last match.

I thought Pax was off, but I'll take it.

Why did he get suspended? The brawl was hard to follow but it looked like all he did was get chased around.

Ya, I thought he was way off, but the replays are so quick if they even happen

Not sure of his specific actions but he got 3 games. CR had 7 players get a combined 33 game suspension lol. Poor kids ended their national team hopes because I imagine the suspension won't apply to games if they aren't selected(?) and who is going to select kids with 3/7 game suspensions.

Nah, if they aren't called up for a camp and Costa Rica has 3 matches, that counts as them serving 3matches of their suspension.

Looks like this has the potential to be a total beat down.

This is really the first time I've followed the younger team.

They have been head and shoulders above everyone so far. The Canada game was iffy but the field was shitty.

They could be a little more technical but they are smoking teams so can't really complain.

I can't stress the importance of this as to why we're about to make the Olympics for the first time in 14 years.

Like, Jackson Yueill was captaining the U23's last year in a do or die Olympic qualifier.

To be fair, there hasn't been much YT activity given COVID. I haven't followed it as much either but I think we were heavily rotating in the group stage? Broski probably has much better insight.

A side bonus to all of this is that Mexico missed out on U20 WC qualification and Olympic qualification.
