I just enjoy the thought of price gouging Barca, them loaning us the guy back, and us having a buy-back option less than what we let him go for.

If he came back and excelled here, it would be the greatest but of business of all time.

Amazing to think that professional footballers when defending can still watch a man with the ball in the box, with his back to goal and moving AWAY from goal, think “I know what I’ll do right here, I’ll bump him and show him what’s what!”

I really like the idea of having the following:

Allison
TAA - Gomez - VvD - Robbo
Fabs
Mo - Hendo - Ox - Manè
Bobby

Subs: Brewster, Gini, Migs, Matip, Milner, Origi

How can people continue to overlook Joel Matip? Since December this year he’s been better than Gomez has ever been. There were a few games where he legitimately outplayed Virg. Lest we forget, he along with Fab was the key difference maker against Barca. They had no answer for his drives up the middle, two of which contributed to goals iirc. I’ve never seen Gomez display the passing and progressive game that Joel is capable of.

I think its less overlooking Matip and more reminiscing about the dominance that was the Gomez-VVD partnership prior to Gomez' injury. I don't mean to take away from Matip's performances after that, and you're 100% correct that has bombing forward and distribution influenced many of our games at the end of the season.

But barring further injuries, Gomez is the future, and he has physical gifts rivaling Virgil's own. I think that's why most slide Joe into that starting spot. He's going to have a very difficult time prying it away from Matip, and it's a great problem for us to have. Hopefully we can rest Virgil more frequently this season and let Matip/Joe work on establishing their own partnership.

At the end of last season, Matip was being *just* as dominant paired with VVD.

And, frankly, Matip was actually contributing more with the ball on his foot going forward and passing the ball in the 2nd half of last season than Gomez ever did.

P.S. This is *not* a criticism of Gomez, btw.

Talked to my New Balance Rep
He's says they cant resign Liverpool the $$$ has gotten too high. They have first right of refusal but they arent going to take it. The figure he heard was $90-100M per year.
New Balance I believe was paying $38m a year.
So this should be our last year in New Balance.

I hope that’s not true. I shudder to think what anime would make us.

I was thinking about passing on this season's 3rd kit.

Considering the above, I might have to go ahead and get it, because I have no doubt Kaepernick Inc. can make things much much worse.

I know Nike gets a lot of shite (some of it deserved)... but their kits the last few years have been pretty good, I'll reserve judgement until we get something tangible, but they've seemingly moved past the stupid template model as of late

Would he like to make a generous kit donation to the Liverpool faithful of TD’s soccer board?

Work in Sporting Goods--he was really depressed about losing LFC. Nothing is signed but we was very pesemistic
He sent me a purple and orange training top last season....it was obnoxious. Offered me tickets to South Bend but I just couldn't pull the trip off. The owner OF NB and John Henry are tight (both Boston based) so this will be awkward

This is what I’ve been interested to see play out. NB is in bed with FSG in general, not just Liverpool, they’ve in the past had and continue to have a deal with the Red Sox.

Gonna miss tomorrow’s friendly live (for good reason, my roommate has an extra ticket to the Stones concert here) but I’m interested to watch it DVR’d and see if TNT is test driving any changes to their broadcasts after they were pretty trash last year.

Heading up to South Bend tomorrow. Going to be hot as balls. 92° at the 8pm kickoff. Sitting in the Kop end.
Stoked after seeing our friends, that went up early, at the meet and greets today.

As much as I love to hate on ND, it would be cool as hell to go to any event there. Take some picz for us.

Hopefully Rhian Brewster keeps up the form against big clubs and plays himself into a rotational role or a loan to a good club.

My hope for the match is the young strikers show they are a threat at the next level. I would love a solid outing from Ox as well.

I want to see him score the winner at Old Trafford with Salah and Mane flanking him.
