Is Clyne hurt?

If not, his days may be numbered...

With the players we have at hand now, I think we might be in need of a change of system.

I'd like to see a 4-2-3-1 adding another attacker to try and help things click up top. Obviously don't blame him for not wanting to change that up during this stretch because will the midfield was bad as far as adding creativity and linking up with the front 3, they've been pretty crucial to how we've defended so far this season.

That or I can't believe I'm saying this, but Lallana could be someone to throw in as that third midfielder to help link things between the midfield and front 3 when he finally gets healthy. But not ideal to put a bunch of faith in someone that we would be lucky to get two consecutive games out of.

All that said, I think we've clearly had the toughest start to the season of the top teams and if you told me we'd be tied on points at the top of the table while still not playing anywhere near our best, I would take it

Zaba, I see nothing wrong with putting Lallana in “when healthy and fit”. We could really use Keita finding his legs in this system like Ox last year to add an attacking option as a B2B Mid too. A creative mid to play behind our front 3 (Damn Fekir) would be great.

There was a report that Lucas Paqueta's agent was in Liverpool this week (and not Milan)... He may be a Jan target if we have moved on from Fekir, which seems to be the case..

We need someone in that role.. though he may not be quite ready..

It was at the top of Klopp’s shopping list and he had his man so I think it is still an issue right? We know though that Klopp targets a guy he truly wants and he’s not big into Plan B’s.

to some degree.. he wanted Brandt and Draxler before we went for Salah... I think he's smart enough to move on when it's time..

I def think we still need that type of player, but I think he wasn't prepared to get just anyone in summer once Fekir fell through..

I like the prospect of going after Ramsey in Jan.. Prem proven, UCL eligible and wouldn't be needed every single match...

Midfield has been very disappointing

going forward, pretty much the whole season. Among Milner, Hendo and Gini and excluding pens, I can't recall a single shot on goal from any of them.

It like others have said, we desperately need a creative midfielder to link up with the front three. Personally, I like Shaq and Keita in that regard. I think Klopp is just going with the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality. We’re at the top of the table through a really tough stretch playing mostly Gini, Hendo, Milner. If our struggles in front of goal and in the attacking third continue in the next couple of games I’d expect some changes. Don’t want to hit the panic button quite yet.

Gini has 3 shots on target and 1 goal (header vs. Tottenham?).

Milly has 2 shots on target and 1 goal (a penalty, I think).

Hendo, no shots, no shots on target, no goals.

There was one point in the 2nd half yesterday where Hendo had a clear shot from just outside the box if he had just loaded up and took the shot. I was screaming "TAKE THE DAMN SHOT!" at my TV because the defenders had dropped off and weren't even worried about him.

He has a history of making shots from that distance in the past, so I don't quite understand why he's so hesitant to do it now.

I think Klopp understands the need. He targeted Fekir and it fell through unexpectedly. He moved on to more pressing matters (GK) and was going to roll with the MF in house. I think at this point January appears to be a target date for a replacement for Fekir. In the mean time, I like Shaq in that role but I don’t think JK is sold on that either. Of course we are tied at the top having just run that gauntlet so I know I’m happy and he’ll figure it out.

Salah comes off the pitch due to injury today in the 88th minute of a game Egypt was leading 4-0.

88TH MINUTE.

4-0.

WHAT THE FUG WAS HE STILL DOING ON THE PITCH, EGYPT COACH?

Jeebus, I wish there was a rule that in international ball, if a player for that country gets hurt, that country's association is responsible for paying the salary of the player from the club that he plays for until he is healthy again.

Maybe then these idiot international coaches would get a goddam clue.

Yeah that’s dumb. Egyptian FA are morons. Reading online that it was a hamstring issue and is not serious, but still another step back to him getting back to form.

In other news, seeing reports that Klopp is now eyeing up Zielinski. Seems like a decent target if he doesn’t resign with Napoli or if Juve doesn’t snag him first.

Luckily, we can prob rest him and bring in Shaqiri for the next 3 matches and still get 9 points...

Don't know if this has been posted before.

https://www.thisisanfield.com/2018/10/liverpool-fans-will-love-what-maurizio-sarri-said-about-jurgen-klopp-and-the-joy-of-football/

quote:

"One of the most enthralling endings to a match so far this season came against Sarri’s Blues at the end of September, when Daniel Sturridge‘s incredible strike sealed a shock draw.

But as the Italian told Corriere dello Sport in an interview this month, Klopp was already enjoying the game before his No. 15 struck.

“There are moments when the grand spectacle of it all convinces you to put aside any regrets. Even if you concede at the last minute or five minutes into stoppages,” Sarri said.

“That was an extraordinary show. Just 10 minutes earlier, I saw Klopp looking at me with the game going on.

“I asked: ‘Why are you smiling?’. He replied: ‘Aren’t you having fun?’.

“I said ‘so much’, and he added ‘me too’. He was losing at the time. Even after the equaliser, remembering that moment, we hugged like two old friends."

frick this international break. Salah and VVD end up hurt and just saw on Twitter that Mane broke his damn thumb. Obviously not the worst injury for a soccer player but damn, C’mon!
