Our bench attack options are literally the flex seal meme.

Just bad luck when he was getting this run of games and Klopp clearly liking what he has to offer and showing his trust in him

Has the injury been announced? Is it the leg/ankle? Curious how it’s already known that it’s the season?

Klopp said he spoke with the trainers and that it was dislocated. That tells me that it wasn’t a compound tib/fib. Granted, x-rays will tell that tale.

If he escaped without fractures/torn ligaments, he’ll be back maybe even before March. The way it looked, I am not counting chickens just yet.

Cool story from Instagram though… Kid in hospital had broken his arm in a footy match, and guess who gets put in his room? Harvey.

Kid now has a signed top and set of boots.

ETA: Just saw an update, he’ll need surgery in the coming days but was discharged from hospital. Hopefully that means it is a minor surgery, but I would speculate March is the earliest he’d be fit again.

If he dislocated it, there’s a 99% chance some kind of ligament is torn.

The fact they’re waiting to do surgery is a good sign that there’s probably no fracture.

But he’ll be out at least 6 months assuming everything goes well

So this is Keita’s chance here. He’s looked very good until he got caught up in a fricking coup. I think his partnership with Thiago and Fab at the 6 could be scary.

his foot was just hanging there... no way he didn't tear ligaments...

looked very similar to Dak Prescott's injury, even though he apparently didn't break his leg bones, like Dak did...

but it's 100% he tore ligaments, which is what the surgery would mainly be for...

“We won’t put pressure on him by setting a specific timeframe beyond being able to say with confidence we expect him to feature again later in the season following our rehab programme”

Great win today. Played outstanding outside those 2 min late in the first half

2 thoughts

1. I said it in the game thread, but Fabinho is an absolute joy to watch. Dude is so good

2. This may be dumb but is there any chance in the future we move TAA to midfield? It seems like 80% of the goals we concede involve him just completely whiffing or getting best. He’s just not that good of a defender. Would obviously require us to buy a new rb and maybe there aren’t any that fit what Klopp wants to do like Trent

Alexander-Arnold is such a dog. Love that guy.

Not much finesse needed in his goal; just straight up beat Milan’s defenders in a foot race to the post.

No. Him being slow doesn’t equate to him being a bad defender. He is in a position and system that requires him to be out of position a lot. He will get beat at times because of what he is being asked to do.

Why would we change our system over that?

I think he gets a bad rep for his defense, but his defense is likely exactly what Klopp wants it to be. Klopp literally called him the best RB in the world a week or two ago.

He really doesn't get beat all that often from the dribble - he is usually just too far forward, by most people's designs of a RB (including Southgate), but not Klopps. That means he appears out of position because there is space there and he's racing back. But its a calculated risk in the Klopp scheme, and one reason why the Gomez/Matip/VVD type players with speed are essential in Klopps system - they are covering for the RB/LB.

Now, two caveats to thought - he was not back for the two goals yesterday - which I'm fine with as thats clearly what Klopp wants - however, he was loafing back when the ball was already past him for both of them rather than racing into the space vacated by the CB or midfielder.

Also, when he does get beat on the dribble, he's usually flat footed at that point he's beaten, and gets beaten badly, rather than still being in position to keep the danger lessened.
