Hahaha so I was only right about the goalie using his hands outside the box to stop a goal scoring opportunity

Actually you were wrong about it

BBC just showed it on replay and the ball was in the box

If Martinez doesn't handle the ball, Abraham wins it and is past Martinez, there were still two Arsenal defenders Abraham would have to beat to score.

Maybe you haven’t seen the replay, but the defenders are a good 4-5 meters behind Tammy. If Tammy gets to that ball he does NOT have anyone to beat from there.

why not a red? genuinely curious. isnt a keeper just a regular outfield player out of the box? seemed like a denial of goal scoring opportunity.

There are 2 Arsenal defenders at the top of the 18 when Martinez handles the ball. Either or both are in position to defend the open goal by the time Abraham gains control and because of that DOGSO is not in play. Had it been called, it's a yellow for a tactical foul/stopping a promising attack.

Now, if Martinez is the only one back, then yes, it's DOGSO-H and a red.

Disappointed but still very bullish on 20-21 Blues. New talent, hopefully a new keeper and help on the back line, and Champions League footy. Obviously need a fit Pulisic as well but I trust Frank. He’s done a fine job this year.

I just watched it again.

Because Abraham is so far to the edge of the penalty area when he would have gained possession, the defender in the middle (David Luiz I think) likely would have had time to be in position to defend the goal. That's why DOGSO doesn't apply here.

I mean, you have a frozen pic of him holding the ball. That could be at any moment of the play. I’ve already seen a still frame of the ball over the line. There’s nothing to discuss.

He's supposed to be, but he's been bitter about Arsenal for a while.
