This is literally the thing Mou’s supposed to be so good at. It’s improvement from anything so far in the post-SAF era, but it’s frustrating as hell.
All I can take from it is this team isn’t the finished product
But they players were poor today

Jose should have been more proactive with his tactics
Before the goal Sevilla was clearly playing for pens and just shooting from 20 yards out
We can’t counter attack a team that won’t bother attacking

The finished product will be better but still fricking brutal to watch, the negative setups won’t change under Mou.
Utd have been out of sorts since Sanchez joined, seems to have really demotivated Pogba in particular. Hopefully they all come together and finish strong in the league.

We still need to figure out Sanchez position
No idea also why Rashford started on the right today
Afroman was wasteful with his chances

If it’s anything like his first stint with Chelsea or Madrid we will be fine
He stil doesn’t trust the back four enough to let the players go out and attack away from home in Europe or a top 4 side.
Another CB needs to come in and another CM.
Carrick and Afroman will be gone.

I don't disagree with your assessment, but the fact that Manchester United cannot trust Rashford, Sanchez, Pogba, Lukaku, etc. to score away from home without totally exposing it's defense is pathetic. They obviously can't though and it's a problem. United need at least one CBs, maybe two. Same problem City has had and are still working on. If United's "board" will fund Jose's spending spree this summer, they're two to three players away from challenging on all fronts.

The major problem was there was no one or no plan left in place for when SAF left. No director of football or anything. City have been building up to this for years with a clear vision. When SAF left, the board was like frick it Moyes will figure it out. Despite SAF pulling a rabbit out his arse to win the league with a side that had a ton of holes.
LvG came in and laid some ground work but some of his purchases didn’t make any sense to rebuild a squad with obvious holes.
Jose has clearly improved on some of that but when the club was basically neglected in structure and vision for 5 years this happens.

Now imagine that happening over a 25 year period...then you have City late 2000s

Someone from Manchester had to crash out.

Problem is the Glazers took SAF for granted and we’re pretty cheap at times. They didn’t legit open the check book until LvG came and by then it was too late to close the gap with City.

Anything can happen when you get into the last 8
But the only team we would be clear favorites against would be Roma.

Man U. 4 shots on goal in 180 minutes.

Mourinho's comments after the game were pretty awful IMO. He pretty much said United should be used to losing like this because he's put them out like this several times.

Using math from three days ago, I'd say that's what Liverpool would get against Manchester United in 180 minutes.

Ouch
But they got a nice draw vs Porto
But like us I can’t see them being favorites vs anyone other than Roma
