Just as a side note, City still has never paid as much for a single player as Chelsea, United, or Liverpool.
We get good bang for our buck. We've spent a good bit under Pep but you can't really argue with the quality or results.

I’d change the title to welcome our Basque overlord, but I am superstitious.

Not sure if Mahrez is going to happen, but City seem to be doing all their summer business in January since it's a world cup year with an early ending to the summer window.
I'm pretty happy with their line of thinking, honestly. Plus add in bonus of going for the quadruple while they have a chance.

The hate regarding a possible Mahrez move is amusing. We were already looking for a winger, that was clear with the Sanchez interest.
This isn’t fully because Sane got hurt, but this happening is certainly an effect of that.
I would honestly rather see Brahim given a chance off the bench than sign Mahrez though. This is nothing but a signing to boost the UCL squad and a possible quadruple/treble or whatever.
I trust Pep and Txiki.

It's going to be hard to go all of Feb and part of March with only Aguero, Sterling, Bsilva and Brahim though. I'm not one for panic Jan buys for every injury, but the sitatuion is dire. Maybe the could just buy Fred and playu false nines every game, but that leaves only Brahim and Sterling as wingers for many very important games. Sure we have others that can play there, but we become very narrow when they do.
As you said we were always looking for another forward even if it waited till Summer. Moving the purchase to Jan makes sense bc of the overall situation, as long as Mahrez was on the shortlist, it's fine. He's a good age and a capable match winner. I'm hoping it goes through.

Looks like City pull out.
Pretty clear that City have leaked that Leicester wanted 95m pounds, which included a player going the other way. Also possible that if it was Mangala that City just overvalued him to increase the appearance of the value that Leicester wanted.
So if City claim Mangala is worth 25m, then 70+25 = the 95m.
Still wow.
Edit: Also there were rumors the player was Roberts, not sure how much that would have worked though.

Silkay Ilkay bossed the game with a MOTM brace. Great way to kick off the Round of 16.

Liam Gallagher in the Guardian:
He's f'ing crazy, but man does he love City.
