Should be ruled out by the letter of the law

That's very unlucky

With VAR it's the last edge of a playable body part beyond the last edge of a playable body part of the 2nd-to-last defender. (or last defender before keeper, usually)

Was being sarcastic with the usual complaints

Basically, any part of the body you can play the ball with can't be beyond the final defender when a ball is played to you. Also, if you don't touch the ball but are deemed to interfere with play in such a scenario (like blocking a defender from getting the ball), it can be ruled offside.

Pulisic looking like Robben drawing that penalty.

quote:I guess this is the part I forgot. You'll notice VAR drew the line to the crown of the head of the guy on the ground and the heel of the Chelsea defender. Those two places mark the playable body parts furthest up field (or behind the offside line) for the players "involved" in the play (since he was deemed to be interfering)

My immediate reaction wasn't if Antonio played the ball, but rather he was on the ground in an offside position and blocked Dave from getting to that ball.
