I find that soccer fans are even more reactionary than other sports yet the difference in a W, D, or L is marginal from one game to the next. It takes longitudinal time series to actually see how a team is performing yet fans quickly rotate from one end of the spectrum to the other based on the most recent performance.

Point blank, Frank and the team overachieved last year and were fortunate that typical perennial powers sucked and allowed us to get 4th in the league.

If we get the squad to full strength and don’t see a string of not only positive results but higher quality play then I’ll become more critical.

Analyzing performance based on wins and losses is myopic...it’s about the process that drives to the results that I care about the most. Control the ball, limit mental errors, create opportunities, movement and interplay, etc. are the indicators we need to see.

City isn’t looking great right now and they have their own injury issues. TOT will be without Son on Tuesday when Blues visit Hotspur, and because they’ve looked average so far we may have a shot. Blues need to get fit and add Rice ASAP.

My biggest worry is we are turning into Arsenal of the late 00s through most of the last decade.

A bunch of flashy players who are always hurt and mentally weak with questionable defending and celebrating top 4s as if that is the goal. No thanks.

Y’all need to calm down.

You aren’t arsenal. You won the league 3-4 years ago lol. You’ve just added a lot of new faces, and honestly haven’t been that bad outside of a few mental lapses. Those will go away. This squad is going to start steamrolling teams sooner rather than later tbh. Zero chance you finish any lower than 3rd this season.

I imagine next summer the transfer window will be focused on the defensive side of the ball, and this squad will be set up to dominate the league.

Chelsea star Marcos Alonso may reportedly never play for the club again after being on the receiving end of a furious bust-up with Frank Lampard following the 3-3 draw with West Brom. Alonso's future at the club has long been questioned with Lampard failing to be impressed by either the Spaniard or Emerson Palmieri last season.

Apparently Alonso, after being pulled at half vs WBA, went to the team bus to watch the second half without permission. Frank found out and dressed him down in front of the entire squad after the game.

Explains why he threw Marcos under the bus during the post match interview.

Felt very out of character when watching live.

A fitting end to a crap 2nd half performance. No continuity whatsoever. It was if they were waiting for Spurs to score.

I have yet to determine what is Jorginho's value outside of making the most basic of lateral and back passes. And of course, it wouldn't be complete without yet another lapse along the back line (Emerson...what in the heck were you doing???)

We aren't great right now. I think this squad has huge deficiencies at CB still. However, I thought Mendy looked okay in his debut. Made a couple smart saves. Way more confident coming to get the ball on crosses. Better distribution. Y'all know I don't like Chilwell very much, but he will undoubtedly be an upgrade on what we've had since we're playing back four.

Lampard is going to have to pretty much commit to a formation/XI soon now that everyone is healthy or close to it. We can't afford to give away easy points while the new guys are trying to settle in/gel together. The most important thing he can do right now is pick his preferred CB partnership and just go with it. We can't keep switching in and out every week. Also, pick a midfield, and stay with it. All of our midfielders are healthy. Just go with one and establish some continuity.

You mean slowly jogging toward your man when he's completely unmarked on the back post with an obvious cross incoming is not the proper way to defend? I mean maybe we should give him a break, he had been on the pitch for like 10 min. maybe he was too exhausted. Mother of God I would rip my 8 year old daughter a new one for defending like that.

I mean penalties are hard to save I get it but 5 out 5 and not even sniffing one. Everything about this team blows right now. Get Pulisic's gay arse off the bench and put him on the field. Ziyech too. Pusses.

Man I'm hating this team so much right now.
