Regarding Willian, I was ready to say goodbye to him during the break but he’s been terrific since play has resumed. Not sure what it would take to extend him at season’s end but he’s looking indispensable.

So many players look like this when they have no contract in a matter of weeks

Yeah, Pedro is gone. Think it's safe to assume after today that Jorginho will be sold. Willian might be on the way out. Could see Gilmour going on loan next year. Just don't see him getting enough minutes. I think we'll clear out a handful of players permanently or on loan deals.

Why isn’t Jorginho getting any play time?

He’s slow and kinda lazy and not good enough at what he’s good good at to overcome that. A poverty line Fabregas

this plus frank is trying to see if Kante as a lone DM with two attacking 8s will be viable next year.

tho its starting to seem like all those mins are finally catching up to Ngolo.

I think jorghino deserves a chance. Can’t believe he’s left out all the time

Gilmore, Pulisic and Mount all look tiny out there. We seem to get muscled a lot. West Ham bullied us.

Someone on Twitter said this:

"It's been so sad to see N'Golo Kante go from an absolute force of nature to just a really good defensive midfielder."

I think Mount holds his own physically. He definitely will get after a player, and stick a foot in. Gilmour is small and really young still. pulisic actually looks pretty strong now, but just has always seemed sort of weak physically. He looks the part out there, but is rarely going to win duels...when he actually tries. I do think he’s gotten better this season of being stronger with the ball at his feet pushing forward though.

What Pulisic is good at is attacking a defense and drawing penalties. His smallish frame make it easy to out muscle him but any contact looks like he’s getting mauled which is a skill - lends itself to close free kicks or PKs.

I wonder if Frank is doing this just to make sure Mount has a place in the starting 11. Don’t get me wrong, he has quality, but shitting on Kante to make a spot for him is dumb (I am basing this on our projected lineup going forward next year as CP22 looks like he is earning his starting spot).

Kante doesn’t = Makelele.

He may do this IF they don’t address the back line (Kante will provide cover), but WTF, our back line needs to be overhauled, not covered for.

The move with Kante to DM makes no sense to me outside of the two scenarios above.

Kante wasnt exactly setting the world on fire playing a more advanced role under Sarri or for most of this season either.

Lamps and Sarri do not run the same system.

doesnt matter, the midfield 3 functions essentially the same for both.

against teams in a low block, id rather have Kante sitting back and breaking up counters than trying to unlock the defense.

To a degree...yes. The issue that would concern me would be work rate. Mount is so so. Barkley even less so. RLC is solid, but isn’t the distributor that Mount is. Kante busts his arse for 90 plus minutes and can distribute. By playing Kante at DM, there is now a hole in the midfield. Our center backs are very meh. That is the issue. We need to address that in the summer window.

With our current back line, yes. However, expect to lose a decent chunk of possession. For now, it may be what we have to do in that situation, but again, it really highlights our issues in our back line.

wtf? Mount has the one of the highest motors on the team. and a consistent criticism that's followed RLC is his lack of hustle, so im not sure what youre seeing out there. agreed on barkles tho.

sounds like great qualities for a 6 to me.

why? kante's more likely to win 50/50's and nick balls off on the counter than Jorginho, which would potentially lead to MORE possession.
