Kits suck. I hate the “3” logo and what are those? Tire marks, Steel marks? Is that white or another shade of blue? Last years kits were great. Especially that white with the collar.

Could it be a CB/Goalie communications issue? That grouping never seems to be in sync. Same issues with Rudiger in there.

Christensen isn't good enough. Sell him ASAP.

I don't think we do. I thought coming into this season Rudiger was our best defender (even still he is just "good" at best), but he hasn't been the same since coming back from injury. Christensen is just a joke, so soft, never wins headers and gets torched way too often. Zouma is capable of making good/great plays, but he also just has random mini-strokes throughout the match, so it is hard to say he is good either. Dave is just past his prime. Reece is fine considering his age and ability to go forward, he is still only 20, so he still has plenty of time to improve as a defender. We need legitimate good CBs so badly.

It is all made so much worse by Kepa being so god damn bad this season. His regression from last season has been shocking.

Zouma's aerial dominance makes up for his mini strokes imo

Maybe it's just a youth thing but the sure the entire squad is a bit mentally fragile. There doesn't seem like there's much leadership out there - in peak years there was so much established trust with guys like Eden, Frank, Cech, Drogba, Terry etc.

Between Kepa and the Back Four, you just don't feel comfortable right now and the trust doesn't exist and it seems to manifest itself throughout... need a shakeup there.

Scratch and claw for top 4 and address needs after the season. Next season could be great with the right pieces.

Well, pulling for Arsenal for the second time within a week has me feeling very unclean.

whats really depressing is looking at which teams in the table one of our CBs or Kepa would be definite starters at.

Agreed.

With the exception of Dave, we are pretty young in the back line. Unfortunately, we are also VERY average. Kepa, while not getting a ton of help has been woeful at times..

I was thinking to myself today during the Leicester game, if we had Soyuncu/Evans/Schmeichel, how many more points would we have? And no disrespect to those three, but they're simply just pretty solid but not special starters.

Ok let’s try and take an objective look at who’s out there as potential reinforcements. I don’t really even know where to start. We were linked with that margalhaes (sp?) kid early in the covid window but have heard nothing since.

Lots of smoke around a havertz deal, which I would love, but if it goes through how much is left to spend this window? Everyone sees the defensive issues (I think) but no smoke around this fire at all. Unless you consider chillwell part of that, but while he’s an upgrade over current LBs he doesn’t really do a ton to solve our back line issues especially for 80M.

Are we just morons or does the brain trust know something we don’t yet know? This isn’t a problem we can solve from within. Lots of big potential players at CB that haven’t ever really panned out. When you start to miss Cahill and Luiz, you’ve got a CB problem.

As bad as it’s been in the back, I haven’t missed David Luiz one bit

the beauty of it is we can spend as much as Roman is willing. the books dont need to be worked as 1 in 1 out, since FFP is calculated over 3 years. not sure when a FFP window starts or ends, so that could be an issue.

but in theory we could spend a shite ton and then focus on selling off in later windows. might be smart too, its a buyers market right now, but if COVID restrictions ease next season and teams make more revenue, could be better to wait to sell off dead wood next couple windows. dunno. could be seeing lots of loans/obligation to buys getting done soon.

We were linked with Lewis Dunk in january. I wouldnt hate it. tall, cheap, and a captain. Mings maybe on a cut rate deal if Villa go down. got JT over there, so who knows. Rice could be versatile as a CB/DM, captain, former chelsea youth, checks alot of boxes. endless number of 30-40m foreign CBs that i have no clue on.

i just get the feeling if we sign a CB or GK, it wont be a splashy deal, like K2. We'll prob be linked with every defender transfer rumor until the end of the window.

Umtiti was rumored to be available this window. I don’t hate that idea but I don’t watch Barca play regularly either. Although I do feel he’s another one of those guys with huge potential that never really progressed as far as once thought. Still a potential upgrade for us though I would think.

Yeah, there's just not any established/can't miss veterans out there unless we're going to spend 100+ mil on Koulibaly. Otherwise, you're looking at Declan Rice, Dayot Upamecano, etc.
