Him, Zappacosta and Drinkwater impressed me today. Zappacosta was always bombing down that wing and didn't get caught out too much. Drinkwater's runs from midfield were perfectly timed.

I also loved Alonso's overall commitment to stopping Salah. He ended up scoring, but it wasn't from just roasting Alonso. Alonso's start position was a lot deeper today. Nice to see him not bomb forward with reckless abandon today.

As ridiculous as i thought the transfer was, he really won me over today. If he can be a consistent threat getting into the box, he'll be the missing piece to the midfield. All of them offer really varied skill sets, but that true box to box goal threat has sorely been missing.

Moses is "in contention" for the match tomorrow. Hoping we see him back. Would also like to see Drinkwater again. I would also like Conte to give Alonso a break. He looks dead tired lately.

Thanks to the geniuses at NbcSports, i spent my entire morning waiting for the replay to post and finally just gave in and watched highlights.

Howd Moses look? His cameo on wed was pretty awful, even for someone shaking off rust.

Barcelona is gonna be rough. I'm sure we were all hoping for Besiktas.

Good thing we've got Zappacosta and a completely worn out Marcos Alonso to shut down Barcelona on the wings.

The games are like 10 weeks away I'm sure Alonso will be ready to go.

Is anybody else ready to put Azpi back at RWB and Cahill, TC, and Luiz back in the center? Moses nor Zappacosta bring enough to the table to justify moving Cesar in and putting Luiz on the bench.

Alonso's just gonna keep looking worn out every match unless he starts getting a break every once and a while.

ETA:

I miss the days when we just went and bought players with no regard for the price.

Well that was quite a finish to the match today based off the highlights.

Bring on Arsenal.

Morata is banned this weekend because he got a yellow celebrating his wife's pregnancy

Morata just isn’t doing it for me. Chelsea should be able to have a striker that can score with his feet as well as his head. He flops nearly 70% of the time he has the ball. I miss costa.

He'll only get more comfortable and confident. The flopping will get worked out of his game since it isnt doing the trick like in spain.

I think hes been pretty damn good, room for improvement, but hes already exceeded my year 1 expectations.

The most encouraging sign is that his play and understanding with hazard is already picking up where diego left it, and took a couple seasons to find.

But yeah, i miss diego sometimes too. Having a complimentary, viable 2nd ST would make a world of difference tho.

He does both of these in fairly large quantities

Costa certainly wasn't lighting the world on fire with headed goals. He had 5 PL headed goals his whole time with Chelsea. Morata already has that many and it is only December.

I know costa flopped a lot, but not immediately with the touch of a hand. He fricked with people and punched dudes in th dick and waited on retaliation.

I would love if the board took Conte's subtle "buy me Arturo Vidal" hint seriously.

Pretty old guy that likely wouldn’t come cheap. Great player that would pair with Kante and Bak but this feels highly unlikely.

He's not the type of guy we sign, but it would make a ton of sense. Could play at a really high level for a couple years so Bakayoko doesn't have so much pressure on him right now.

Come on Morata. You have got to be able to finish at least ONE of those chances.
