Excl: Arsenal have proposed a player plus cash deal for Leicester midfielder James Maddison.

I'm told negotiations are 'very slow' and 'like a game of chess' but the player is keen on a move to north London.

I’d kill for a time machine to get our midfielders of days past in these teams today.

Imagine Cesc, Flamini, Rosicky together again in this current side…

Arsenal have offered Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson in talks for James Maddison.

Eddie Nketiah has also been mentioned but Leicester’s preference as things stand would be a cash-only deal.
Not all 4 players at once, but different players with cash as a proposal.

I don't mind offloading them, as the club seemed willing to let Willock out on a loan again, wanted to force AMN into the right fullback role, didn't really have plans for Nelson, and if they were relying on Nketiah as their striker it would be one long season.

I don't rate Maddison as highly as others on this board, and no mater how they get him it will most likely be a huge overpay in my opinion, based on all the price tags we have seen so far.

Yall talk me off the ledge.

Am I being a bitch or rightfully concerned or a bit of both.

I am very worried about the upcoming season. There is literally zero room for error this season. I don't want this squad trying to finish in 5th or 6th place. We HAVE to finish in the top 4. Anything else and Arteta and Edu need to be sacked.

It is their fault for Auba having been extended, Willian taking up significant wages, Xhaka still being one of your 2 in midfield in front of defense, no RB.

I am looking forward to the season but I just feel that even a draw at Brentford and we can really be in for a rough start. The Emirates will eat these players and manager alive taking 1 point in 9 to start. I'm just really worried.

No outgoings at the moment. So much deadwood to get rid of.

I’m worried about the lack of outgoings but I’m not really worried about RB bc I’m really a Chambers believer tbh. Need to sell Bellerin and somehow get off Willian tho. Idk about top 4 this year but I like our 4-5 year window more than a lot of other teams.

I am gunna be really concerned if we go and get Maddison. As good as he is giving leister that money gives them so much more potential. Their guys know how to identify talent.

I still want Odegard back

This window just sucks. Teams are struggling to offload players.

Even Chelsea. But they can just do what they want when it comes to incoming.

This is the thing I think about when it comes to Xhaka.

He comes, we get slaughtered in the CL and never make it back.

Our Midfield was better with the likes of arteta, Flamini, cazorla, coquelin.

That's just crazy to me.

Maybe it shows how good Wenger really was. But then your big signing to take us over the hump was fricking Petr Cech and the rest is history.

Arsenal team news:

Thomas Partey (ankle) is expected to be back in training in approximately three weeks.

Eddie Nketiah (ankle) is expected to be back in training in approximately four weeks.

Gabriel Magalhães (knee) is aiming to be back in training in the forthcoming weeks.
Looks like Partey won't be back until the Norwich game.

Injury to Nketiah probably lessens his chance of moving on.

Should have taken the money from palace. Dont think he will sign a new contract. Might just leave on a free.

Not interested in nkhetia starting premier league games. So his pt should be minimal. Seems like we are in the sane cycle. Make some decent looking signings, but then do idiotic stuff because you wont be decisive on young players.

Like AMN, we should have took the money. If hes not playing rb, i dont see how he plays in the midfield. Id put him below azeez in the pecking order.

on paper this team shouldn’t finish in the top 4

watching arsenal play the last 5 years and i have zero reason to believe they’ll crack the top 4

I like adding White, but i hope they didn’t overvalue his price tag like many of our other signings in the past

They are where they are at because of shite signings over the years and the inability to sell any player for any amount of reasonable return, and until they offload many of those players this team will continue to struggle for top 4

Apparently White and Lokonga both looked pretty good today. Both should start on Friday.

They struggled in the attacking third again today, which is something we are all too familiar with.

just saw the highlights, not many positives for the club

score could have easily been 4-0

leno made some good saves and got help from the post

offensively, still inept

There is 0% chance Arsenal will finish top 4 looking at the squads that City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and even Leicester have. Then you also have to worry about teams like West Ham and Tottenham.

This squad will prob struggle to get top 6.

P.E.A. has not been the same since he went home on family business and contracted "malaria." I don't know what is happening with that situation but he is looking more and more like Ozil. We had one mental lapse on defense and that cost us the draw. Nketiah is just awful...Bellerin was even worse. We really needed to just bite the bullet and give those two away to a Swiss team or something. Saka had several good looks at goal and just looked rusty, he will be a force. Pepe was probably the best player on the pitch.

If we can come through the first three games with five points, I think we could be a top 6 team, maybe better. If we come through the first three with 1 or 0 points Arteta is a dead man walking. Come on down Thierry!

I’m convinced Laca is going nowhere bc we are gunna have to rely hard on him bc of Auba and I can also extending him (Laca) another year.
