Exclusive: Rob Holding commits to Arsenal by signing new long-term contract. Centre-back close to Newcastle loan in Aug but Arteta blocked & now regular starter. 25yo seen as emerging leader + recently extended deal which ran until 2023 @TheAthleticUK #AFC

Arsenal looking to sign No2 GK - permanent if 1st choice gettable (unclear if still Raya) or more likely experienced loan & review in summer. Would enable Runarsson loan for experience (Champ + Euro clubs keen) - always seen by #AFC as a No3 @TheAthleticUK

Since the MCFC defeat, Arsenal have conceded 1 goal in the last 4 matches. We aren't playing world beaters, but that isn't too bad. With ESR and our better attack, the defense has stepped up.

I think Arsenal drew Southampton in the next round.

Southampton were supposed to play Shrewsbury. Not sure how they work that out. Do they just let Southampton advance?

I assume they will have to play at some point mid week before the next round game on the 23rd. We also drew Wolves for the 5th round (assuming they don’t get upset)

Arsenal injury update

- Martinelli has progressed 'very well' and should be back in full training in a few days.
- Gabriel is available for Thursday night's game.
- Partey to be assessed, but has been in full training all week.
Glad to see Martinelli's injury wasn't significant.

I'd love to see a 3 man midfield of Xhaka, Partey and ESR.

Mesut Ozil prepared to forgo proportion of the ~£7m owed to leave Arsenal this month as free agent. Talks between #AFC & 32yo continue - if no agreement he stays. Talks with Fenerbahce + DC United ongoing but Jan move would only be to #FENER @TheAthleticUK

Honestly I'd do it if I were him. His supporters would still support him and see it as him taking the high road.

He's got more followers on social media than Arsenal. He will be fine.

Unless Arsenal is actually trying to extract a little money out of this. Just pay up and let him play somewhere else. Arsenal are the ones that fricked up and gave him the contract.

I don't think it's about Arsenal getting money, but how much of Ozil's remaining salary they would have to pay to the team taking him on loan, if it is a loan. I'm sure they would be glad to pay none of his salary, but I've seen they could pay 50% of it. In the end, it's really up to Ozil. If he wants to live in London for another few months, he will stay.

EXCLUSIVE: Premier League director of football Richard Garlick to leave later this year & take up post as director of football ops at Arsenal. Ex-WBA exec was with PL since summer 2018. Succeed Huss Fahmy at #AFC, working on contracts etc @TheAthleticUK

Garlick will work closely with Edu & take the position previously held by Huss Fahmy. His background in law is part of what Arsenal were looking for from their director of football operations & he is expected to work on contracts at the Emirates Stadium.

Very worrisome lineup, no Tierney, Gabriel or Mari, but instead Holding and Luiz.

Might be more to it than that with Mari. If he played today the team owed him $1mill, not sure on the specifics.

Yeah I just saw no Tierney or Mari at all. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Although I had a feeling because Mari started Saturday that Gabriel would slot next to holding this match.

But we get David luiz instead.

Lol now I'm worried I thought these next two games would be our chance to really move up the table and put pressure on that pack ahead of us.

I'm happy no Willian out there, and no need for defensive minded Elneny, but then 2 steps back putting Luiz out there.

Maybe he wants him since Benteke is big/physical? Gabby might be couple days away from 100%, who knows.
