I dont think Ozil will leave until his contract is done this summer. He just plans on heading to the MLS at that time.
On another note, looks like Sokratis may be heading to Genoa.

So if Ozil and those wages are gone, Arsenal has no excuse to not strengthen the side in the Winter transfer window right?
Looks as if he won't move there until the summer. I wish he would go now, though.

Damn. So what are the options for the winter window? Are Kola and Mustafi gone or is that also in the summer?

If so it seems that defender will be thin again, along with CAM still.

I believe they are looking at bringing in a CAM. No word on Mustafi yet. Kola is loaned out, but probably will be shipped out for good in the summer. Sokratis might be heading to Italy in January. Elneny could also head out in January.
quote:

Mikel Arteta wants up to eight players gone over January & summer windows to speed up his overhaul of the #afc squad. Among those seen as dispensable: Mustafi, Elneny, Nelson, Chambers, Balogun, Willock & outcasts Özil, Sokratis & Kolasinac. [Independent]

Arsenal would also consider approaches for Konstantinos Mavropanos & Lucas Torreira, who have yet to return. The club will meanwhile review the situations of Granit Xhaka & Alexandre Lacazette, with the latter’s contract set to run out next year. [Independent] #afc
Getting rid of Balogun will be a mistake. They really need to try and lock him up on a new contract. Not sure how trustworthy the Independent is, but I don't think they would get rid of Nelson or Willock.

Arsenal’s scouting of Houssem Aouar since the last transfer window, which has been more than just watching games, has raised concerns, meaning another approach is unlikely. [@David_Ornstein]

@David_Ornstein on signing an attacking midfielder: “It’s not guaranteed. Arsenal don’t just want to go for any old player & make mistakes of the past, they want to get the right player, even if that means waiting until the summer, but definitely don’t rule it out!”
Matt Macey is gone for good.

Arteta on Balogun:

quote:

Fabrizio Romano
@FabrizioRomano

Balogun always been open to stay at Arsenal... but he needs to play. This is the priority for Folarin and his agents.

If he plays more, he'll be consider a new contract. If not, Balogun will decide among 15 clubs that approached him as free agent. Nothing done/signed yet #AFC

@David_Ornstein

Folarin Balogun close to signing pre-contract agreement with a foreign club. Arsenal want him to stay but no real progress in deal talks & little game time. No problem with his reps in past (inc Iwobi, Nelson, Saka) With @gunnerblog for @TheAthleticUK #AFC
Looks like Balogun may be gone.

Dang, just last night I was thinking we might actually sell Eddie and balogun would sign with us.

Also saw on NBC that Ozil might actually go to Fenerbache and we would cover his first 6 months of wages just for him to leave now.

We have Bellerin, Tierney, AMN, Cedric. And holding, Luiz, Gabriel, Mari. I suspect a mustafi or chambers won't leave til summer.

Plenty of defenders.

And don't forget if luiz mustafi and chambers are gone over the summer, saliba will be back from nice.

Is Saliba a central defender, all I've heard is he is right sided?

He's a right sided CB. Hoping he can develop well and be a solid partner with Gabriel on the left.

All this shite about Ozil.. he hasn’t been productive since what the first half of 2017? And people still seem to think he’s like some missing piece and can be a game changer still. My small brain doesn’t get it it. Everything in his game is half arse.

Martinelli just spotted in the stands wearing a boot. Might have gotten hurt in the pre-match warm up.

Cedric with a not very good half at all. Willian was just meh as well, but Arteta has him as the CAM this match.

I know a lot of people go to bat for Nelson but he was garbage today. Willian...just man what an awful signing.

Nelson wasn't meant to play, on due to the Martinelli injury, and you could certainly tell. Once ESR came on and pushed Willian out wide left things opened up a bit. ESR is just much more involved in attack. Nelson and Willian had very poor outings.

The final ball is missing from everyone today sadly. There have only been 2 or so decent chances. Good news is the defense has been organized all but one time.

I will say Pepe so far has been around the ball a ton, just cant make that final pass, and his shots are all off.

Yeah but if you’re itching to prove yourself wouldn’t you think you’d show up prepared to play no matter the situation? It’s not like they were asking him to play out of position.

Arsenal sloppy in the back twice, and then on a free kick were very slow getting back and nearly got countered if not for a phenomenal save from Leno.

Maitlaind-Niles should have for sure been out there instead of Cedric.

All the possession and cross after cross, but no real great chances. Auba still out of form and not clinical enough.

So ESR is banned for 3 games and with extra time remaining there is a chance we are going to fall out of the FA Cup.

We need reinforcements now. We need another midfielder immediately and we need to ensure Willian never plays again. God he is so terrible. A massive waste. Play any of the kids ahead of him. Play Balogun before you lose him you morons.
