Liverpool have agreed a £2 million fee with Preston North End to sign centre back Ben Davies, report James Pearce and Adam Crafton.

The deal sees Liverpool’s 19-year-old defender Sepp van den Berg head to Preston on loan.

Liverpool had been eager to sign a defender ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho all out injured. Davies, 25, was out of contract at the end of the season and had been close to joining Scottish Premiership champions Celtic

KABAK DEAL 'AGREED IN PRINCIPLE' Ozan Kabak's move to Liverpool is ON, according to Sky Germany, with a deal agreed to loan the Schalke defender agreed in principle within the last half hour. The 20-year-old's move, as we told you earlier, will be a loan - including an up-front fee of £1m - with an option to buy in the summer.

Liverpool are edging towards the signing of Ozan Kabak from Schalke, initially on loan for the rest of the season. The loan fee will be £1m with a possible £500,000 bonus depending on the Reds' performance in the Champions League. To buy the 20-year-old in the summer? That'll cost Liverpool a cool £80m plus add-ons. That's quite a try-before-you-buy.

Barnsley have signed USA forward Daryl Dike on loan from MLS side Orlando City. The Tykes have an option to buy the 20-year-old, who scored eight goals in 17 MLS appearances last season.

If Liverpool choose to purchase Ozan Kabak in the summer, he will cost an initial fee of £18m, which could rise to £26.5m on appearances and performance. The loan fee is understood to be £1m, rising to £1.5m in potential add-ons. This loan fee is lower than the one reported earlier by Sky Germany.

S posted this in the City thread, but Harwood-Bellis going from City to Blackburn on loan.

City are paying $300K for Rochdale winger Kwadwo Baah who is out of contract at the end of the year. Juventus, Bayern and West Ham also were competing for him. He is staying at Rochdale on loan.

River were nasty when they were rolling out Ayala, Almeyda, El Burrito Ortega, Gallardo, Crespo and Francescoli. That team was top drawer.

Those are very favorable terms, given we didnt have much leverage... A very good young prospect and no obligation to buy...

I guess it helps that Schalke is fricked up right now..

No buy option for Jayden Braaf and Udinese. That’s surprising.
