Who live in abject poverty are lifted out? I mean this isn’t the dawn of the industrial revolution where we are in dire need of labor. We have millions here, poverty, homeless, unemployed etc.

No. We want all of the educated, productive and hard working immigrants we can get. I love a merit based system.

At the end of the day they are taking a job an American could hold.

No.

There is nothing wrong with merit based immigration.

Many have way more merits than Americans.

I'm pretty anti immigration but I don't think I would want a complete moratorium. Let us have other countries best and brightest.

I find it hilarious that the Dems are for immigration to shore up votes to keep them in office while they have completely forgotten the black race. Think of how great things would be in America if the crime in the inner cities decreased significantly.

Olivia Consuela Maria Ortiz Diaz Conchita Gonzalez promised me I would get free money for sitting on my arse and I intend to get that money. I want free medicine and a job of my choosing too. Bitch told me I get a house too, so I want one with a guest room for my hoes.

Absolutely not, because many Americans in poverty will never be lifted out of it. Many are in poverty directly because of their own terrible choices. Many others have no desire to even get out of poverty if it means actually working.

I'll take immigrants with strong family values and strong work ethic over the hoards of worthless Americans I see on a daily basis any day.

Are you under the assumption that they are sending us their best and brightest?

I mean, I agree with your overall concept, but I think you should go down to Home Depot and see what we are getting.

I’ll take these over the Americans just sitting at home doing nothing.

We should only let in educated people who can support themselves, and only a limited number of those.

No.

Immigration isn't why we have people living in "poverty." Also, people in this country don't know what real poverty looks like.

No question.

There are 2 guys working on a house on my block that I'm sure are illegals. They work alone and I've seen the owner paying in cash.

Regardless, these guys have been busting arse on this house for probably 3 months, doing everything you can think of. They work everyday except Sunday from sun up to sun down, even when it's pouring rain.

Again, I would take these guys in this country over the people I see sitting on their porch all day every day a few blocks down.

God said that the poor will always be with us. So the "war on poverty" is, by definition, something that cannot be won. Every society in human history has had rich and poor people, even the communist ones. The only question is how wealth is allocated to those who are rich. So "until the millions of US Citizens who live in abject poverty" is a fictitious target.

That having been said, I would support a complete moratorium on all immigration for a generation given that our immigration policies have been nothing short of silly and have destroyed our culture for two generations.
