The black man part is irrelevant and unnecessary but thought I would throw that out to please our identity possessed friends on the left. Thomas Sowell would be the most learned justice on the bench.

Exactly. We need some far right Conservative barely out of law school to sit the bench for 50-60 years.

Our current political climate in a nutshell. Assuming the OP is correct and Sowell is the best possible candidate for the job, we'll pass on him so we can put some other younger, far less qualified or experienced person to help support team Republican forever

I like Sowell so this isn’t meant to bash him.

But what are his qualifications for the SC?

I mean his background is economics not law. Yes he’s brilliant but incredibly under qualified for the SC.

Wouldn't call Sowell far right. He is far rational with far too much common sense for a far left person to grasp. At least one who actually believes the pitiful things they "claim" to believe. I'm holding out that they are just pizzed their team lost. And are reverting to the typical scatology SEC fans scream in frustration when their team loses.

Has nothing to do with you being smart and playing the long game, you just want team politics to survive and thrive, regardless of whether they are what is best for the country or not.

But let me guess, those dem, cuck, liberal, filthy progressives are the only ones who play that game.

1. Too old. Aside from longevity, he's a notoriously private person who's retreated from the public sphere as he got older. I can't imagine he wants to jump back into the spotlight rather than enjoy his golden years like he has been.

2. Not a Lawyer ( but I'm guessing he would bring some sorely needed logic to the SC)

3. Republicans did that with Clarence Thomas. There was a such an unabashed shite show from the Left with not a single ounce of remorse. Trump could nominate a left handed muslim transgender lesbian and it wouldn't matter. They'd just be labeled an Uncle Tom and race traitor like any other non-straight white male who deviates from progressive thinking.

I just hope its someone who'll stick to what the constitution says and not rule based on the outrage flavor of the week. Shocking how radical that notion is now.

I don't care how bright you are or how off the charts the IQ you may possess is, if you're not willing to follow the direction of the constitution, you're not welcomed on my Supreme Court.

Thomas Sowell is a great man but his age and expertise just don't lend to the SC.

Brilliance isn't needed to be a Supreme Court Justice...just conviction to uphold the Constitution as it was originally was meant to be, even when it may be unpopular.

It sure as hell helps. Reading Scalia's dissents gives me a troll boner.

Since you brought him up and I'm currently reading his book about aff action. Interesting tidbit I never thought about:

Aff action works when dissent is not allowed by law. Germany between the wars saw preferences given to Germans over Jews. It worked well as Germans started getting higher positions in college and govt. The Jews could not protest. But a lot of them left.

Singapore did not have aff action. This favored the Chinese who were far superior by merit. The inferior Muslims were not allowed to protest. They didn't. In fact they bragged about 'I live in a Chinese neighborhood'. Singapore is doing pretty well.
