Or mandatory service like Israel?

There are 4 million kids born each year or close to it in the early 2000's.
For 2 years of service you would have to find something for 8 million of them to do at any given time.
That would be a bureaucratic nightmare and a tremendous waste of time.

Im pretty sure they were against the murder or attempted murder of innocent cops. The looting of innocent businesses, the burning of cities and homes.

I’m sure they were too. They fiercely advocated for property rights. What the hell does that have to do with conscription? They didn’t even want a federal standing army, much less one that forced people into serving it.

If we had a military draft, our overseas meddling would end in less than a year. The only thing Americans hate more than peace is their kids having to fight in a war.

Disagree, too many people would get out of doing their duty. Young people have forgotten that there is a price to pay for freedom. This country was built by people who fought for it and served something bigger than themselves. Every able bodied 18 year old man should have to serve 2 years in the military.
If you defer service for college you should have to take ROTC and then go in as an officer for two years.
This one act would change the direction of this nation almost immediately and it would do more to help these inner city kids than any thing they could ever do legislatively to help them.

Mandatory national guard service until 25. Make kids help after natural disasters. Make them go through basic training and learn how to shoot and take apart a rifle.
Maybe this will instill some discipline and increase responsible gun ownership.
