women are now better educated than their husbands - still earn less

I know.. clickbait title.

I don't believe in the wage gap myth, fwiw. I mostly thought it was interesting that more wives are better educated than husbands than vice versa.
I'm more educated than my husband. He makes more money than me, but I'm hoping to surpass him in earnings eventually. Or not. It doesn't matter to me who makes more, I just hope that both of us keep making more money.

For the first time in history, more women than men are better educated than their spouse, reports Brookings. According to research from Institute for Family Studies (IFS) a record 25.3 percent of husbands are now married to wives who have more education than they do.

But even though women have more educational attainment and are more likely to "marry down" educationally, they are still more likely to be out-earned by their partners. Across all heterosexual couples, 73 percent of men have a higher income than their spouse.

They should choose better degrees.

If I had to guess, it would be because men are generally more likely to go into fields that have a higher pay.

- still earn less
But we already know that. It's the law.
Except perhaps in Hollywood.

I don't believe in the wage gap myth

Once again, it's an argument about career choices.
If you have a doctorate in library sciences and your husband has a BS in chemistry and works for a large pharmaceutical company, then that's a valid explanation of why he makes more despite being "less educated". These studies are so fricking dishonest and they know it yet they push this myth anyway.

Choices. This poorly educated guy becomes a plumber, this highly educated woman becomes a social worker . Education only provides us with a glimpse of the entire picture.
Imho, women truly excel in a small business environment and we would be smart to point our ambitious daughters in that direction.

I can verify.
Me: 2 year degree in business from Delgado
Her: 4 year BS accounting Loyola. Masters in English NSU
Been married 15 years and she has worked a whole 6 months.

All these chicks now get gender studies and lesbian dance theory degreees and are shocked when there's not a high paying job waiting for them when they get out into the real world bc they have a worthless degree in lesbian dance theory.

Not entirely.
The "wage gap" is a myth; there is, however, an "earnings gap" in this country.

I doubt most wives stay at home.

My cousin has his own HVAC business and makes far more money than me. He didn't go to college and I did. I want my restitution, goddamnit.

"Better Educated" means time spent sitting on your fat arse in a classroom.
How many girls spend their summers in high school framing houses...or working in a body shop...or driving a tractor?

One of the real 'gaps' that the media doesn't like to talk about is the higher education gap between men and women.
Women earn something like 6-6.5 out of every 10 college degrees these days.
shite when I was at freshman orientation at UGA they told us our class was 66% female, and 34% male.

I earn a lot. My wife earns a lot more, more than 50%. Her education is greater than mine and she works internationally where I (primarily) work domestically. Shoots a hole in the OP's theory.
