Media is still sucking him off. He was in a bad spot having to constantly battle the bad orange man.
That said, I think they are leaking this out now because they are hiding something bigger that's about to come out. Fauci served his purpose for them and now he's exposable. He won't do any jail time or anything like that. He'll fade away with his millions he's made lying to us and his book deal (he gets paid regardless of whether it sells).

Biden is obviously not going to fire him. He has no actual legal authority so anything he may have suggested or implemented policy wise was obviously cleared by and/or consented to by the administration.
People expecting him to be perp walked or something are setting themselves up for disappointment. If he had any sense at all he would just retire--but he's enjoying his celebrity and 'power' too much for that.

Initially this is reality.
Slight chance at a far later date frickci is drug into some global lawsuit, but again that's slim odds as well.
