Part of those jobs include loyalty and political discretion.
Why only ask if he identifies as a conservative and not ask about identifying as a liberal?
That’s strange.

It was not a civil service employment test. CS tests typically are given at the beginning of the hiring process which I’ve already taken.
If it wasn't a CS test, what was it for? Classified position or unclassified?

It's been over ten years since I last had to take a civil service exam, and I know there was no question like that then, or on any application.
If this is true, is sure sounds shady as shite.

Agree, but the whole thing is strange.
I guess it could be a conservative agency and only want conservatives. Doubtful. I can't think of any "conservative" agencies. Maybe the state treasurer's office?
It could be an office run by a member of JBE's cabinet. They figure "we can work with liberals or moderates but conservatives are off limits." Again not illegal, but incredibly stupid.
Could be in the legislative branch. Like for a delegation (like the New Orleans delegation) or a caucus (like the Black Caucus). That could make some sense.

Why would a Louisiana state employment exam ask me if I identify as a Conservative?
Best to say no if you need to pass that exam for some work related reason.

Regardless this type question is infuriating. It is a binary choice giving the applicant no room to be moderate nor nuanced.

Correct answer would be you are fluid being either conservative or liberal depending on the requirements to get the job. Remember to always respond with: Depends on what the definition of "is" is.

What?! This is outrageous! You need to post pics of the exam and that question, even if the exam is blank. That should never even be asked by anyone looking to hire to fill a state government job.
Post a picture of it please!

If we knew the position, or name of test, we could do a FOIA request for the test and see if it matches. Just a thought. Maybe if you wanted to private email someone, they could do it for you. Completely understand your reasoning for not putting specifics on a public majority LOUISIANA board for a Louisiana position.

So they can put you in the don't promote/hire pile?

Dey trying to weed out the weirdos.

well, for that moment, you could always identify as a moderate and then after you are hired, identify as something else
Identies of this nature change
even Obama evolved

Because they only hire "democrats" to work for the state

I call bullshite, particularly because you wont tell us more. There is no reason not to if you are legitimately onto something.

Or even just the agency.

I don’t blame him.
If I were applying for a job, I may not say anything more either.

I worked as a classified state employee for 26 years and any kind of political activity was forbidden. No bumper stickers, yard signs, discussions, nothing. Of course all that changed when Obama was elected. Suddenly those that reported someone with a bumper sticker began openly praising/fawning over everything Obamas. Guess I could have bitched about it but felt it wasn't worth the hassle.
Times sure have changed if they are targeting "conservatives". It's really none of their damn business.

Simply put, they don't want to hire anyone that may actually do their job. They'd rather hire a someone that works at 25%.
