1. Their health system is overwhelmed
2. They’re telling the truth
China was burning bodies and diagnosing people with “respiratory failure” if they died before a test came back positive

1) They were victims of the Chinese lying to the world for months while the virus spread
2) they have a disproportionately susceptible population
3) they didn’t act fast enough to lock it down
4) all of the above factors caused their healthcare system to be overwhelmed in areas
5) #4 causes deaths that would not otherwise have occurred

Once the health system is overwhelmed things trend downward quickly.

What do you mean by 'so high'? They've only had like a thousand people die in a country of sixty million people.

Doesn’t help to have a bunch of Chinese working there

Well a disease’s death rate has absolutely nothing to do with any nation’s total population.
So when he says ‘so high’, he means that Italy’s covid-19 death rate is relatively high. Which it is, because as anyone who has the cognitive ability of a ten year old would understand—death rate is deaths out of the infected population.

Conveniently left out the success of SK, Japan and Singapore.

Lots of elderly Chinese Tourists didn't help. Walking slowly in cities with elderly Italians, also walking slowly.

That death rate is going to rise quite a bit. They currently have over 1,000 in critical condition.
