It's yet another dirty but effective tactic that Dems have been using for awhile now. With the Radical faction of their party making a serious power play, it would seem like a good time to start planting some hidden Congressional votes on their side.

The days of this Uniparty, go along to get along, BS from so called Conservatives needs to stop. A lot of the newer faces at the RNC give me hope for the party.

Because many "Republicans" pretend to care about the people while quietly only looking out for themselves. Dem politicians are just openly blatant about not giving a shite.

I feel like most of the RINOs are plants...especially when it comes to clowns like John McCain, Paul Ryan, Lindsay Graham, and Jeff Flake.

I feel like those two were just from the era when there wasn't that much of a divide between Democrats and Republicans...way back when Dems still loved this country. Sam Nunn was probably in that mold too.

The closest thing to that is either Joe Manchin or Krysten Sinema.

The reason you don't have a DINO is because of retribution from their party leadership. Case in point Jeff Van Drew.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Worked for Nixon as an Advisor, and Ambassador to India. Moynihan authored a controversial, by that day, report outlying that the problems within the Black community began with single mother led families. This was 1965. Nailed it 60 years ago, and it's still a problem to this day. As a Senator, Moynihan took a more Libertarian approach.

There’s plenty in local politics at least in the few liberal areas in MS like Oxford. Not so much in national politics. The WV senator is the closest but he still votes with the Dems the vast majority of the time.

Well there has been. A couple have been mentioned. I’d throw in former Congressman Gene Taylor, Artur Davis from Alabama is another that became a Dino too.

Not sure, but I watched House of Cards a while back, and I fully believe a lot of what goes on in that show are true depictions. The lobbying, bribing, quid pro quo, blackmail.

Some may disagree, but former Congressman Billy Tauzin was a DINO before switching to the Republican Party.

Of course he only did this because he wanted to regain or retain his power on Commerce committee when the Republicans took over after 1994.

He was a big advocate for getting away from the income tax and moving to a national sales tax.

He was also in the pockets of Big Pharma creating Medicare Part D. So by this point he may have become a RINO based on that policy alone.

Upon leaving office he became a shill for big Pharma enriching himself in a multi million dollar a year chief lobbyist position.

I believe that most politicians are chameleons they change their colors for what’s best for themselves.

Humm, closest I can think of is Zell Miller. He was a "Democrat" when he was in GA politics but was actually just a Republican. I think he actually changed parties before he was a US Senator, though. IIRC.

ETA nope he was a Democrat that voted with the Republicans. Didn't officially change parties until 2008, 3 years after he left the US Senate.

Fun fact, he was a keynote speaker at the DNC in 1992 and at the RNC in 2004.
