I legit can't think of 1 single reason why me or my immediately family should care about it.

The longer the pandemic goes on, the longer that I can convince my wife that I need to be quarantined to my fishing boat.

Same. I took it serious for about 2 months but then I figured out I was being lied to. You lost me once you lied to me. And you know what? I still haven’t had the shot and never had covid. Hmmmmm.

my nearly 80 year old mother views herself as a high risk....

however, she's gotten the latest booster (and is very thankful) because she got 'rona, it didn't even slow her down, and in the same breath will say "i probably would have died without that vaccine". the shots on the other hand have made her bed ridden all three times.

I knew it was fake from day one because the news came from the CDC and WHO. I discovered that those organizations were in the business of lying about 30 years ago. Nothing will change.

Beyond pathetic that it has taken people this long to recognize this for the sham that it is.

That article is a prime example of media gaslighting.

I took 4 Covid tests over this weekend. I was hoping to not have to go to my sales meeting…

Negative T cell test?

Vast majority of people had it at some point. Odds are you did, but didn't notice.

Never been tested because I knew they’d say I had covid even if I had a broken leg. I’ve never experienced any symptoms that people have described that had it (headache, followed by what felt like sinus infection, feel like crap for a week or two, hard to breathe, loss of smell and taste). Haven’t had anything like that.

It’s a virus. This is what viruses do. It isn’t reason to shut down anything, change how we vote or give away trillions of dollars just to have inflation bite us in the arse down the road.

The thing about the American public is that their preferences are their preferences — they might seem misplaced, but they are nonetheless real.

We are attempting to live our lives as a free people. If that goes against what this moron prefers I simply do not care. I’ll happily take a risk of getting Covid if it means I can do what I want when and where I want to do it.

I never really worried in the first place when it came to my health or those in my immediate household as we didn’t fit into any at risk category. The statistics proved it out. However, I was and still am extraordinarily pissed about how fauci became this godlike dictator and his impact on our ability to visit my Dad who was in the last stages of ALS. He died alone because of that prick and I will not ever let that go.

Short answer is that we never cared about it, but were forced to deal with the artificial circumstances that were forced upon us, all the same.

Sorry to hear that. That is fricking brutal. Unfortunately, a lot of people went through this situation and democrats simply do not care.

DeSantis signed a bill that will prevent this from happening in Florida again. All governors should follow suit.

It all centers around information availability bias. We tend to think problems/issues/phenomena/etc are more prevalent the more we hear about them. This is a matter of psychology that anyone that wants to dissect an argument should be aware of.

The mask mandates are gone, the death tickers are gone, the reminders to mail in your ballots are gone, fauci is on life support not in the media, etc. Americans are not being told they are about to die so they are using their eyes and ears to decide how much to care, which is obviously not very much at all. They are no longer going tot he hospital when they have symptoms or even testing themselves because it isn’t a news story any longer.

Bottom line: the news matters in terms of public perception. The correlation is even stronger with the most casual observers, as they tend to not challenge the things that they hear. Easier to accept as true and move on.

We had to "visit" him through a closed window in a parking lot with a nurse holding a phone and putting us on speaker phone...

No family should have that forced upon them. My heart goes out to those that dealt with it and especially to the patients themselves when they probably want family and friends more than ever. There is no excuse for this during end of life care. We weren't able to get to him and hold the facility accountable for his care. During his last week with us he was transferred to the VA (and then hospice) because of belly inflammation. They drained a few liters of urine from him. It was neglect and covid regulations made it possible. Had we been allowed in it never would've happened.

DeSantis is doing a great job out there. I have gavin and well.. enough said.

Because those 100,000 new cases per day (I don’t believe that, BTW) are people getting what’s basically been reduced down to just another common cold virus.

Correct.

2020/2021 the US had their lowest hospital occupancy in recorded history.

Nobody’s buying it, though. People are DONE with this. They realize it’s a freaking cold at this point

We are still giving about 15-20 boosters daily at our pharmacy. Extrapolated over the entire city of Austin and its several thousand a day. Clearly there are alot of people still getting the shot. Why? People are dumb, uninformed or both.
