Ran into a couple of hunting buddies yesterday and 1 told me that he was going to buy a new ATV when he gets his tax return.
Every year its the same excitement. People can't wait to get their W2's, while I file for an extension every year. I've heard of some people getting back more than they made all year.
Give me an extra 5-10k and watch what I do. It wont be buying an ATV

It's one of the few government programs that works. Research indicates the EITC encourages employment and the money is spent on things like car repair and child tutoring.

Goes even further than free stuff.

Pretty much anytime the govt starts anything it is a permanent thing. Only thing I can think of in my lifetime the govt. began and ended was the RTC to handle the S&L crisis of the 1980's. (The same S&L Crisis that Neil Bush should've been imprisoned over and keeps him outta politics.)

Good Question

Let me make the call, it wouldn't be hard at all.

You have heard about some poor arse people. The maximum amount of EIC for 2017 was about $6,300. So the people you are talking about didn’t have that much income on top of having 3 or more kids.

Once the poor lazy people learn they can use the governments gun to steal money from earners to give to their lazy asses then the new government theft program never stops

The EITC results in more fraud than any other government program, I would argue. People who don't work routinely claim "self employment" earnings that are conveniently right at the amount to receive the maximum refund.

They don't have to prove that they earned the money, or how they earned the money, so it's virtually impossible to prove that they didn't earn $13k babysitting. Don't do anything all year? Great, file a tax return claiming 13k in earnings, and get 4k back. Of course you have to split your refund with the skeezy arse "tax" pop ups that show these people the way and file the fraudulent returns.

Isnt the whole right wing argument for lowering corporate and wealthy taxes that it will actually inject money into the economy when those entities increase their spending as a result?

Well this is like that except its actually true. Poor folks lack expendable income and will typically spend what they receive (such as on the items you mentioned). Rich folks dont lack expendable income and wont generally increase their spending or investment based strictly on available funds.

the EITC is such an easy scam, all you need to do is earn a minimum of $1k income DURING THE ENTIRE YEAR, then you can claim the EITC (since you "have" earned income) and get a $10k tax refund which i think goes up to $14k if you earn more then $1k. the liberal socialist professional protesters are the main ones collecting these refunds too.

but there is a top cap on it to disqualify people from using it though, so it makes sure that people who actually work full time and pay taxes cant claim the EITC.

this way it is kept reserved as just another form of welfare for the freeloaders living off of the tax payers. cant have any lower middle income types benefiting in any way to help them make ends meet.

when i was young man trying to make my way in life and get ahead, i rarely made more then $14k for a full years worth of income. yet these snowflakes protest for a living and the IRS sends them refunds of $14k

But it's not their money...

That is money taken from someone else.

Yes yes. I am well aware of the conservative religion of crusading against any tax funded social benefit. Still, if there is any argument to be made about tax policy increasing consumer spending this is it.

You actually do not know the difference between keeping you own money and having some given to you?

What the frick do you think "rich people" do with the extra money they have?

private sector resource allocation decisions vs. public sector resource allocation decisions

We have republican control of everything and nobody's got the balls to propose doing away with or any way curtailing this ridiculous welfare.
