If you take all of Europe they have more deaths then US but we always hear about how much better they are doing then us.

How is that going to hurt Trump in the election?

Is this a rhetorical question? You know the answer to this!

Trump fell right into the trap they set. We all saw it coming, and I suspect Trump did too.

They wanted more testing, and when they got it, the goal posts were moved.

Death rate is the only metric that matters, and, outside of a handful of northeast states, the US is doing as well as nearly any developed nation in that regards

Because they've done a much better job at reducing deaths over time. Also keep in mind that Europe has about twice the population of the US.

They have fewer cases because they suppressed the outbreak.

Or because they aren't testing as much.

So we are no longer flattening the curve, which always ended up with the same amount of cases as the do nothing policy?

We should do more like the governors of the Northeast that decimated their elderly population?

Doc, why are you so certain Europe won’t see a resurgence after they reopen?

Spain had 4,000 cases yesterday, up from like 100 only a short while ago.

France, Italy, Spain, UK now all have Ro above 1

You are declaring victory in Europe way too soon

The virus will be here until a vaccine. It’s just a fact. You can shut down all you want, but the virus is carried by human beings not objects and surfaces.

Unless you shut down until a vaccine is available, the virus will spread.

It is insane to use shutdowns to eradicate viruses. It’s unambiguously NOT what shutdowns are for.

We're all going to be bouncing on/off various levels of restriction, as long as we've got considerable numbers of uninfected, but the more robust testing and tracing you have and the more you mask, the less social proximity you have to restrict. They're also trying to keep people alive until the vaccine and that's, um less important to us.

I'm still curious-confused as to the extrapolation of symptoms and the rate of infection.

Are asymptomatic patients without fever or cough infectious? Or are they merely in limbo?
